Thank goodness my bathtub isn’t clear..! I’m wondering if he gets in and out of there by himself.

I love that pouty husky so much. Especially his parents’ resignation to the attitude.

Rescue kitty-girls are amazing. And chinchilla dust baths are the best.

I really want to know what happens at Grandma’s house that makes the husky not want to leave.

Suspect that the furparents would not approve.

Back when I had NHK Japan I would watch “A Cat’s-Eye View of Japan,”

    Not exactly thrilling but soothing.

Having a kind of rough day. Since I volunteered to work on the 4th I have today off. I’m trying to pay bills but I can’t concentrate. I am missing Jacques so much. He was such a little ❤️rascal❤️, always in my business, stomping on the keyboard, walking on counters and just generally entitled to demand my attention whenever he decided he wanted it. Butch and Swee’Pea aren’t like that and I’m surprised how much I miss it.

I’m sorry that you’re missing Jacques so much.

He sounds like a real character who loved you.

        Strange, I wrote hugs in the middle of that < < < hugs > > >

          It probably thought you were trying to do an html tag. That’s why I use curly brackets for hugs. {{hug}}

Hugs and healing purrs. Of course you miss all his most, um, winning habits.

I’ve usually found that once the immediate shock/horror wears off, that’s when the pain really sets in. It takes a long time to adjust to the new normal.

I understand because even after a more than a year I still miss Minnie every day.

Pablo died in 2009 and I will still cry telling the story of his last day. I still miss him but I guess I don’t think about him every day at this point.

I miss all of my pets at different times and situations. The memories make me smile and I hope that they knew how much they were loved.

My mothers siamese who could tell time and yelled bedtime at 10pm
Rusty, the family dog who would exhale rapidly, mimicking a purr.
Mika, who would knock things off and then curl up, pretending that she’d been asleep
Alex, who nursed my father through a heart attack
Chiaro, who slept in my Arms and watch over me when I slept
Harley, who hunted and killed steaks
Penny, who purred when I looked at her
Donna, who loved to male biscuits on my neck.

Stars & Stripes totally knew when it was snack time. They would start hovering near the doorway between the kitchen and living room where they got their nighttime treats (usually just a different kind of dry cat food than they had in their regular bowls) around 10pm. They each got a small scoop in their own bowl. Stripes got his first, in the kitchen near their regular food and water dishes, and Stars got hers next to the fireplace in the living room once he was distracted (so he wouldn’t try to take hers).

            We are so easily trained!

Stars and Stripes, bet that they were a powerful pair!

My cousin found them on his boat in 2006 when they weren’t more than a few days old (he had the boat moved to the water for the season the day before and went out to clean, and heard some squeaking noises while he was hosing down the deck; he found them in a cabinet underneath the seats. Don’t know if mom was off hunting and they moved the boat on her, or if she moved with the boat but happened to be off when he found them, or if something happened to her…can’t decide which option is the least depressing). He brought them home and his wife took them to the vet, who showed her how to take care of them, and they lived in a spare bathroom for seven weeks.

There were two boys, Stripes and Claws, and two girls, Sailor and Mitsy. I’m pretty sure his son named the boys and his daughter named the girls (they were 8 and 10 at the time, and Sailor was for Sailor Moon, not the boat). When they were about 2 weeks old I went over after work one day to see them and my mom happened to be there. At one point she asked which one I’d want, and I said Mitsy because she was the littlest, and she said Stripes because he was the biggest and also had different coloring than the others (they were all tabbies; he was brown/black/white and they were light/dark gray and cream). The next morning I was leaving for work and my parents were in the living room, and she said something about how she would take Stripes and I could have Mitsy, and my dad (the cat hater) rolled his eyes, and I didn’t think much of it and went to work. When I got home they weren’t there and there was a message on the answering machine, so I played it. It was my cousin’s wife, all excited and going on about how they’re brother and sister and they’ll get to stay together and on and on, and I though, “she wasn’t kidding..!” And that’s how we got two kittens.

(The other two went to a friend of theirs and someone my cousin knew through work; one of them got an older brother who looked just like Stripes. They couldn’t keep them because he’s allergic and his wife already had a cranky elderly cat who probably wouldn’t have put up with them, which is also why they lived in the bathroom to begin with. Her cat came with her when they got married and he dealt with it, but he wasn’t going to agree to more.)

My mom picked them up on July 3rd, and on her way there she stopped at the bank and was chatting with the woman next to her in line about how she was going to pick up these kittens, and mentioned their names, and the woman said something like, “tomorrow’s the 4th of July; they should be Stars & Stripes!” And so they were.

So Stars was my cat and I didn’t even get to name her (I moved out about a year later, anyway). Also she loved my dad. Who hated her so much he let her go to bed with him nearly every night. For 16 years. 🙃

I’m amazed your father managed to tolerate her. For 16 years.

I know. It’s really sad how much he hated the cats.
