The centuries-old game of chess underwent many changes in its early years, with many pieces evolving or disappearing until the game took its present-day form. One piece eliminated was the dalmatian, which due to its black-and-white coloring was allowed to traverse any square on the board, but mainly just kept knocking over the other pieces.

“I gotta confess something, Phil; I’ve never liked trees all that much. Yeah, I know, we’re supposed to chew ’em and all, but something’s always been a little off for me.
