Cage (Mis)match

(All right, let me just retrace my steps here… I crept up slowly, kept low to the ground… no tail movement, didn’t give away my position… I dug in my claws, so I had secure footing… Did the butt wiggle, very important… and then I jumped, and I think it was around that time that something went wrong…)

Kratu creates crazy course at Crufts

In 2018, a dog named Baron Kratu von Bearbum (Kratu for short) charmed the crowd at the Crufts dog show in the UK with an erratic and inaccurate run in the rescue dog agility course. Kratu, a crossbreed Carpathian/Mioritic sheepdog, was rescued in his teen years and while he couldn’t be properly trained he still gave it his best effort.

Well, what a difference a year makes! Kratu made his triumphant return to Crufts this year, and this time he… pretty much did the same thing he did last year. But if Crufts ever adds a “hide and seek” event he’s a lock for the gold. (More info about Kratu here.)

Come and Get Me, You Dirty Rat!

Yeah, I know this looks bad, but let me explain. See, at first I was going to catch the rat, because that’s why you keep me around here, and I get that, but I then I remembered reading about that guy — what’s his name, the Pied Piper? — and I figure let’s try something different, because you know I’m always trying to expand my skill set, and so I start humming a little tune — la dee daa — and lead the rat out of town so it’s not as messy and you’re not buying a word of this, are you?

I think this town needs a new mouser, Gigi the cat lady.

And Now, the Fish Slapping Dunce

In the whole of Nature’s realm, with all of its beauty and horror, few predators match the majesty of the grizzly bear. Although its lumbering gait and massive size prevent it from chasing its prey, it has adapted with tactic as simple as it is terrifying. Standing astride the raging rapids, anchored by weights that can range as high as 600 pounds, it waits confidently for spawning salmon to leap into its massive jaws, where with one deft… OK, it usually works, is what I’m saying.

Ow.

Guess it’s berries for dinner again, Sharon H.
