On the subject of fireworks, I recently accidentally discovered a way to soothe my dog during fireworks/thunderstorms. I turn on the clothes dryer with dryer balls inside (no clothes, Air only setting) and the noise seems to drown out/counteract the scary outside noises. I set a dog bed next to it and turn off all the lights. He will sit next to it and is relatively calm. He isn’t happy, but he no longer has full body shaking, tongue hanging out, ears back and wide open terror eyes.
That’s genius!
I may be tagged as a Grinch, but I HATE fireworks and noise makers in the neighborhood streets, and within subdivisions. Went through years of misery with my babies and pets.
The noise and loud explosions should be restricted to outdoor venues in the community!!
I’m totally with you. My neighborhood has a Facebook group, and there was a lot of grumbling about loud fireworks. On the fourth, I sat with Ani the rabbit to see how she would react; happily, she wasn’t bothered by the noise. She also doesn’t seem to mind loud thunder.
Can’t decide if pup looks excited or frightened. Either way, he’s cute and I hope the headphones helped.

I hear the Paper Airplane Runway Workers Union just renewed their contract with Bunway Airlines. There’s a special clause whereby they won’t try to chase the pilots.
