Maru, that master of disguise, dons his most cunning costume yet. With the aid of scissors and tape, he transforms himself into — a cat. To be fair, it’s an entirely different cat, with more of a cubist thing going on, but still… Genius disguise, Maru. Kudos.
Maru could learn a lesson or two from Hana. There’s no way you’d ever see Hana stoop to such undignified behav–

Must be from Picasso’s Mew period.
Hahahahaha.
Hahaha!
Coming up at Tate Modern, a retrospective on the Turbulent 2010’s – The Epochal Transition from Classical Spherism to Triumphant Cubism.
I must say, the shot of Maru from behind/above is a lovely juxtaposition of the two.
“What becomes evident when looking at Picasso’s work here is that his two artistic styles, as illustrated by the Surreal Cubism of the “head” and the Neoclassic Naturalism of the body, are not antithetical; on the contrary, each informs the other, to the degree that the metamorphosis from one style to the other is so natural, sometimes even within the same work of art, it deceptively introduces us to a new way of seeing…”
This thread needs some ? and ?.
LOL Have you been in the nattering about art business at some point in your life?
No 🙂
I’m just one of those annoying people who help create bottlenecks at the entrances of special exhibits because I have to carefully read every word of the length intro. I also spend way too much time reading the descriptions of individual works as well, to the point where I now have to go to museums alone, because apparently people’s “feet hurt” just 2 hours into the experience 🙂
The 99% Invisible podcast has a motto: Always read the plaque.
I’m more into history-type museums than art museums, but I am also the one who lags behind my companions reading everything.
I go to museums alone for the same reason!
Yep, me too. And friends *know* not to watch any kind of history-based movie with me, especially if it’s set in a place and time I’ve taught about. They’re likely to get an earful.
A Film worthy of the master Surrealists. As they say now… so meta.
Since Maru’s beverage box dive and slide days this has become my favorite Maru video.
People: Maru, what are you going to be for Halloween?
Maru: I’m going as people’s idea of Maru.
All these replies need upvotes! >:3 XD
Maru looks so wonderful in that cat costume. I would buy an oil painting portrait of him in it!
Mugumogu’s endless creativity always amazes me. She’s so great at concepts for the cats and their worldwide audience. Maru always seems to know what shots she wants too–he’s a poser, that one! Sweet silly Hana also knows how to play to the camera.
Excellent commentitude, people!
Maru, you big, fluffy weirdo! ? ?
