On a dark Halloween night not long ago, Maru and Hana were visited by the Ghost of Videos Posted Too Late to Be Included On Our Halloween Day Page. But the cats aren’t falling for that trick — they head to the kitchen for their treat, which Maru hogs for himself.

I was going to ask the same thing. We’ve seen that railing with the heater inside it (if that’s what that is; whatever it is, it’s certainly something I’ve never seen in any US house), but I don’t remember the doors that are directly next to it.
It would be interesting to try to compile all the information we have about the house from the Maru videos. For years I assumed she lived in a high-rise apartment (as I imagine most Japanese to do) and was astonished when we saw the yard. I’m not sure if we’ve seen more or less than we think we have, but it’s probably one or the other.
Yes, as I recall that’s a heater or wood stove.
