Tiny kitten rescues big dog in Disney-Pixar’s Kitbull
When a wide-eyed street kitten meets a pit bull with bad owners, the pair hatch a rescue plan that sweeps them from the mean streets into a happy home in Kitbull, a charming short film from SparkShorts, a new series from Disney-Pixar artists. (Content note: Despite the happy ending, the film depicts effects of animal abuse.)

The creator of this short was inspired by cat videos. Lots and lots of cat videos.
And here’s a video showing the process for making the film, in which hand-drawn animation gets a Pixar upgrade.
No way I’m watching the whole thing.
Had to skip ahead to the happy ending. Where apparently everyone in the world is cutting up onions so that i’m tearing up.
And thank you Mike for the new Marc Anthony tag!!!!
It’s not new! I thought it up back at Cute Overload, and started applying it here whenever I had a pic or vid of a kitten charming a big dog. Click the tag to see the other examples.
A co-worker told me about it so I watched it this morning. Yeah, it was tough going for the first 3-4 minutes and I almost stopped watching but I persevered and made it to the very sweet happy ending.
I just heard about it today from a coworker! He warned me that it would rip my heart out but then put it back in place.
Thank goodness you said there was a happy ending before I watched it because otherwise I couldn’t have made it through it.
Had to watch it without sounds at work, heart still burst into a thousand pieces.
I know it’s not real, I know it’s only a cartoon, but it is so painful to watch any sort of animal abuse. Knowing it had a happy ending made it almost bearable.
My eyes are leaking!
I watched without sound, too, after the warning.
I LOVE how the kitten is all points and spikes and the dog is rounded. And WHAT on earth causes kittens to go into pointy-psycho-sideways mode? Is it to baffle the enemy? Or to render the enemy helpless from laughter?
It makes them look bigger (taller) and therefore more intimidating. Which is why it’s so funny when tiny kittens do it.
My favorite was when Stars first met Pablo. She was about 7 weeks old. She went under the corner of the bed, arched her back as high as she could, and hissed the most terrifying hiss a 7 week old kitten can muster (in other words, not at all terrifying*). He didn’t care.
(Pablo, of course, was a 5 pound Chihuahua. Frightening. He went home soon after that and the next time she saw him she was bigger than him. She ran away.)
*adorable, though
“Greater love hath no man than this…” Damn those ninjas sneaking in here and chopping onions!
