In the ever-revolving spice dispenser of nature’s unforgiving realm, camouflage is an important tool for survival. Such is the case with the Himalayan Salt Parrot, whose uncanny resemblance to rock salt allows it to hide from predators while it sleeps. Unfortunately this tactic works too well, and dozens of birds have woken up from a sound sleep to find themselves on display at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Brain-to-Science Moment #515u1[0235u[029ur0qew9tu0 …
Definitely.
we have pink salt in Austria, too! and a special kind of marble that is pink, white and gray, just like the birdie in the picture (what is that anyway?!)
A Salted-Pink Caramudgie.
Snerklesnort!
Matchingks!
Beautiful birdie. We were making dinner the other night when we heard a loud “BANG!” on the picture window. I thought for sure we were going to find a deceased birdie under the window but the little guy was just stunned, and after taking a few minutes to get his bearings he flew off. I’m not up on bird species and when we first saw him we thought someone’s parakeet had gotten loose (reddish head, black and yellow body). I looked him up in my bird book and discovered he was a Western Tanager, which are fairly common in our area but I don’t recall seeing them before.
This story seemed totally strange until I realised it was not a western teenager with colourful hair!
I even thought “teenagers these days….” Just bumping at Soccersue’s window and then flying away 🙂
It’s ok Ems… I read “doppelganger” in the above post more than once! Eye/brain stuff – good for humor ie Western “teenager”…😹 😁🤣.
How pretty!
Um… don’t you mean “at Bird Bath and Beyond”? (sorry)
I’m just a little Duckie, but as far as I’m concerned, you win the internet today.
