… and at that very moment a radiant blue light filled the room, and there once again stood the Fairy Queen, smiling benevolently upon him. “Oh, brave sweet Ignatz,” she said in a honeyed lilting voice. “You have indeed proven yourself noble and pure of heart. And therefore I shall grant to you your one true desire: to have real human feet.”

There’s a dog in my family, old now, and suffering with painful joints, but still sweet, loving everyone she meets and full of wags. She loves it when someone puts clothes on her. If you put a hat on her head, or balance a pair of sunglasses on her nose, or lay a tea towel across her back like a saddle and she lights up and struts around the house, so proud, mouth open in a wide “dog smile”.
That’s the sweetest thing I’ve heard in awhile. I melt in the presence of senior dogs in general and this has left me in a pool of goo. πππ
Birdcage, has anyone tried Metacam for the aging joints? I know of several situations where it worked amazingly well. The only problem using this is if there is loss of kidney function, which is not uncommon in older animals.
All that I can say is “Awwww”, that makes my heart happy.
They are just such precious things, our pets. Such simple things give them joy and in turn, make us smile.
Reminds me of my lab when she got old and started getting sores on her back paws. I bought her some boots and was worried she would refuse to walk or even chew them off! Instead, she strutted like a model in thousand-dollar pumps. In the last few months of her life, we wore out about four sets of the dog boots and two pairs of sneakers–money well spent!
Such a happy doggo. Only thing I’d be concerned with is if that wish came with a desire to walk upright on those front paws .. oh, excuse me… feet. It’d make me look twice seeing something like that coming down the sidewalk.
