Hey peeps, let’s take a moment from the usual wackiness to enjoy a photo from sender-inner Rachel B., who got this once-in-a-lifetime shot of the teensiest, tiniest froggie on her hand. “I’m pretty sure this little buddy was a tadpole just a few hours earlier,” she says.

Frogette? Is that like the amphibian Rockettes?
Imagine the high kicks. {grows misty-eyed}
Everything ok with Weasleycat?
Thank you for sharing this darling little froggette, Rachel B!
“Hello my baby…”
I’ve been singing that since I saw DebG’s comment.
That’s heartbreaking.
Fred and I are home now. He’s negative for FIV/FLV and some other immunodeficiency disorder. He’s severely dehydrated, can’t walk well, and can’t seem to see. We did a full blood panel and it didn’t tell us anything. They think maybe a tumor or something else is impairing his neurological system, while his high white blood cell count may indicate some sort of infection.
So he got fluids through IV and an antiobiotic shot. I’m going to see how he does over the next few days, isolated in a room of his own with plenty of food and water. He’s stopped meowing constantly, which sounded to all of us like confusion (over not seeing and walking) rather than pain.
I’m concerned about his quality of life. If he’s eating well and is just blind, or even blind and stumbly, that’s manageable. But he’s likely to deteriorate really quickly if it’s a tumor or something neurological. Maybe I should cancel my plans for tomorrow evening, which will mean I’m gone from 6 am to about 11 pm.
Oh dear. So sorry to hear this news. There’s still a chance it could be something treatable though. Us peeps will keep hope in our hearts DEBG.
This is so upsetting. It sounds like you’re able to comfort him, at least for now.

DebG and FredWeasleyCat – thinking of both of you and sending good thought for healing.
hearts, hearts, hearts
Oh bless his heart. I hope itโs just an infection that the antibiotics will clear up. Itโll be a good sign if he eats and drinks. Keep us posted on his condition.
I’m so sorry you and Fred are having to go through this. Keeping everything crossed that it turns out to be something manageable with a good quality of life (as in blind or blind and stumbly).
This is so distressing! I am keeping Fred and you in my thoughts, and hoping he pulls through. I know absolutely you will do what’s best for him. Can you get a competent sitter so you can keep your evening plans? Where I am, you can sometimes find vet techs who will pet sit.
Here’s hoping this is treatable and Fred is back to himself very shortly. Keeping you and kit kat in my thoughts today
Healing and comfort-loaded thoughts coming your way.
