I’ve had customers you wouldn’t believe, man. Type-A types who order 70% espresso and 40% oat milk and get really mad when you tell them that’s over 100%. Influencers who spell their names with two accents and three capital letters and if you don’t write it that way on their cup they scream at you. They need to cut back on the caffeine, if you ask me.
Andrew Y. serving up the cuteness.
That expression says exactly what Mike wrote.
I think that baristacat is about to use it’s murder mitts or a loud hiss on the next difficult customer.
I’ve only been to Starbucks once and found it overpriced and was annoyed by their cup size names, what’s wrong with small, medium and large?
I much prefer Second Cup they serve the same things and are just as good but at a reasonable price. The only thing is they don’t have cute furry baristas 😉
I used to go a lot, because I worked next to one (attached to, but not part of, the bookstore); later I still passed it on my way to work. That location closed about a year before the pandemic, and the next closest ones are too far out of my way to go every morning, so I don’t go nearly as often. Which is a good thing. (Once in a while, when I manage to get out of the house early enough, I’ll make a small detour, and when I’m near one while out and about I might stop in).
They started with Short and Tall, which at least made sense together…but why the Italian word grande (large) for the next size up? I dunno. Then came venti, which just means twenty (because it’s 20 ounces), and trenta (thirty, which is only available for cold drinks). Short is no longer listed on the menu (though you can still order it; it also used to be the default cup for a “kids” hot chocolate (they heat the milk to a lower temperature than normal for kids but they just use a tall cup now)). I worked at another bookstore location that had its own café (serving Starbucks coffee); thankfully I managed to never be café-trained. ☕
Been there, seen it all. Very rarely go to Starbucks but some of their seasonal drinks are pretty yummy.
I have never been to Starbucks. I have never been to IKEA. I barely exist in the modern world. Pass me a flagon* of mead!
*The flagon with the dragon
No, not the flagon with the dragon! That has the pellet with the poison. The chalice with the palace has the brew that is true.
What about the vessel with the pestle???
Can I just get the cup with the pup?
Woo Hoo!
Winnah!
I’ve never been to IKEA, either. The closest one I know of is probably about an hour away.
