Panda Express

This week the National Zoo sent their three giant pandas — Xiao Qi Ji, Mei Xiang, and Tian Tian — back to China to join a breeding program. It’s a bittersweet moment for their caregivers, who’ll miss them but know that the journey will help pull the species from the brink of extinction.

The zoo published video tributes to the departing pandas.

Pandas look so uncoordinated and helpless sometimes that you wonder how they manage to survive in the wild.

I could watch giant pandas play in the snow all day long. Just about died at the cuteness of the short tributes.

I remember when I was a kid, the first pic I saw of a baby panda, and I was “Really? They don’t squish it?”regarding the Huge size difference.

Does anyone here remember Chi-Chi and An-An? Back in the 60s their failure to breed at London Zoo was the stuff of newspaper headlines.
