It’s not as fluffy through the screen ☹️

The dogs were good again. I think we saw a couple of them here.

How did it post twice? Usually it gives me a “duplicate comment” message when I accidentally hit the button twice…

I would oblige that sweet little bébé with all the belly rubs he wants.

On top of a week of temperature that felt with the humidity like 49C/102F at times I had a bad surprise at my annual eye exam. I thought I simply needed new glasses but it turns out that the lens the that was put in when I had my cataract surgery has become cloudy because left over cells are stuck to it. The optometrist said it happens fairly frequently but I was never told it was a possibility 😠 So now I’m waiting for an appointment with the ophthalmologist who did the surgery to clean the lens with a laser.

At least the temperature are back to normal for now, have a good weekend all.

We are still in the 90s here with high humidity—do not visit😝 The lows have only been in the high 70s—briefly each morn—still with high humidity. *sigh* We need the wind to blow Down🔽 from Canada instead of up from Florida!
Went to my sister’s yesterday for movies and dinner ( taco salad😋) and got to pet the tummy fluff of three cats! Two very cuddly, one very aloof and attitudinal. Didn’t get her until I was almost ready to leave!
Set up my old iPad for my sister. She does everything on her phone😳 Hopefully she will find out how much better this is! It’s 4 years old, but she is not doing any high-fa-looting stuff on it.
    Keep cool peeps!

Such a fluff ball! Just hoping it’s not a trap and kitty goes into attack mode.

Amazingly (and knock wood) the weather here has been reasonable. Cool and cloudy mornings generally give way to sunny afternoons in the upper 70s/low 80s with a nice breeze. I’m enjoying it while it lasts because the heat waves are probably going to start next month and keep going until Sept/Oct.

Not too much planned this weekend but doing some house projects. The front stairs are complete and they look amazing. The company I hired did an outstanding job and the concrete looks so much better than the old wood stairs. Just need to clean and seal them and starting Monday, I get to use them. That’s probably going to take up most of the weekend along with the usual chores. So enjoy the weekend and stay cool!

It seems Mike has found the most beautiful kitten for us.

    It’s 9:41 am and 83°, high of 95° today.

We have an Excessive Heat Warning (Severity: Severe, Weather Event Onset: 6:00 am tomorrow, heat index values up to 103°) a Heat Advisory (Severity: Moderate, Onset: 7:05 am today), and an Air Quality Alert (Severity: Unknown, Onset: 3:45 yesterday afternoon).

I’m not 100% convinced of fluffeh kitteh’s good intentions. Something about that expression suggests that an attempt at belleh rubs may result in bloodshed.

Next week’s weather forecast for the Yorkshire coast has improved significantly, so I may go absolutely wild and take a lightweight folding chair with me. I have now reached an age where sitting directly on a beach, even one as clean and non-stony as Whitby, doesn’t have the appeal it once had…

My loft conversion also draws on apace and I’m dying to see the finished result. It will only be a small study/office, but there will be room for a desk, chair, and footstool, together with some storage space and shelving under the eaves. I’m hoping that the tower of York Minster (just under a mile away from the Shortcakery) will be visible from the window, but there’s a chance that a new housing development may have obscured the view.

In my little corner of the world today and filed under boo hoo and if this is a problem for me then, welp, I’m doing well… My darling manual stick shift drive Hyundai is on her last legs. I’ve done a tonne of research and decided on a Mazda, so this last Tuesday I test drove one and agreed to buy it. All set to pick it up on Thursday when the CDK cyber attack occurred (like couldn’t they wait one day?? sheesh) annndddd… now I am one of the many people who have cars waiting in dealer lots all set to go, but they cannot print the paperwork to finalize delivery…

    • allein 🐾 June 22, 2024 / 7:05 pm

Yikes! I hadn’t heard about that!

That reminds me, my car is due for service…

      • fkaWaldenPond June 22, 2024 / 9:59 pm

They may not be able to do it as all service areas/parts departments run on CDK as well. So not only sales are bunged up but service parts etc. are screwed too. Major yikes and le sigh. I was talking to the sales woman today at the LCBO (yaaa, ha ha, now that is a ‘ Ontario Canadian” specific place/term, look it about American peeps) and she has customers who work for Audi and Land Rover and their dealerships are screwed too.

I’m picking up my new-to-me Mazda hybrid this Thursday! Thanks for the heads up.
