Welcome to the Caturday open thread! Since Cutetropolitans are such caring and giving souls, reader Georgiana Y. writes with a heartfelt request on behalf of her dear friends:
Urgent! Volunteers needed for belly rubs. We promise this is not a trap. Signed, Stormy and Skye.
Somehow, I’m not believing Stormy and Skye’s requests are totally honest. I sense that I will need a long glove?
I’m convinced! I cannot resist the lure of the fluff!
(Dons gauntlets and goggles just to be on the safe side)
Regular visitors may remember that last December my annual theatre trip to London unfortunately coincided with Storm Pia, which wreaked havoc with rail transport and caused me to abandon the journey 100 miles away from the capital and return home. On Thursday I had better luck and went to the Barbican Centre to see that old seasonal favourite… “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with “Ghosts” and “Horrible Histories” star Matthew Baynton as Bottom. It was an excellent production, and only the second time in almost thirty years I’ve been to a venue I once patronised on a regular basis before I moved up north. It amazes me to think that I saw the same play at the Barbican when it opened in 1982!
Here’s Mr Baynton in action:
And here are some almost unbearably sweet AI kittens enjoying Christmas:
You’re welcome.
I did not need these. seriously. and now I cannot un hear the Pachacuti
Recognize half the cast of Ghosts, believe its the same production company?
Let me grab my coat! I’ll be right there. Such gorgeous kitties.
Happy Saturday all. So much to do this weekend before leaving for California at the end of the week to be with family for the holidays. I hope I can get it all done.
Good luck! And happy travels!
Let me had a postscript to my cats demand for volunteers..
In Stormy’s case (the black goddess) it is totally safe to scratch her belly, she will stay on her back as long as you are willing to do it, you can even rub your face on her belly and nothing bad will happen.
Now Skye is another story, she likes belly rubs and will ask for them but you have to be careful because she is still very young and playful and she will do bunny kicks, I did get a couple of scratches from her.
My cats live for belly rubs. Only Fred will get kicky if they go on too long.
Where does the line start?
Drinking hot cocoa, then have to get in the shower and go to the dentist, then some errands and then chores. I realize recently that the Gilmore Girls mini-series is on Netflix so I plan to watch while I do some laundry and other fun stuff. The four episodes add up to a little over six hours.
I would like a baked potato, please.
I need that steaming baked potato!! OMGosh!💋
And the #1 dog Junior…I gasped aloud when they showed the x-ray!! Who would DO that?! I can’t believe the dedication of Pia to get him back on his feet. And the fact that he is running around like a train is just the most awesome and precious thing!!💙
Sobbing like a little girl over Junior. His love and trust are amazing, wonderful things. His mom deserves a medal.
I am not crying.
I am not crying.
PS, speaking of belly rubs. (Also, EARS!!)
I want that determined pup!
Only a monster could walk past that adorable yoda pup.
I’ll risk the bellies of death! Such cutie pies too. Had my department Christmas party yesterday, I was conscripted into helping decorate and hand out name tags. Other than that it was fun and good to see people I don’t see all the time. We had it at a historic hotel in San Diego’s Old Town Park. It was a nice venue and really good food. Good start to the weekend. Not much planned, Lego Club today, car meetup tomorrow and in between, errands and laundry. Good news only 1 week left and then we have Christmas break for a week. Yeah!!! That will give me time to clean out the storage shed and do some work around the house/yard. Have a great weekend everyone!
We have our party on Wednesday. The IT department had theirs this past Thursday so the area is already decorated and tables are set up, so we will piggyback on that (they always go all out; our group is much smaller). We do a white elephant/Yankee swap type game with a $15 gift, and we’re doing a $5 gag gift grab bag again, too. My real gift I found at Wegmans – one of those slate cheese boards that you can write on with chalk (I’m really not in the mood to expend too much energy on it this year; I saw it in the kitchenware aisle, $14.99, done). My silly grab bag gift is this (it contains green apple candy):
I love this so much.
That is the best! I’d be thrilled to get that as my gag gift.
I will happily risk scratches or even death to snorgle those bellehs! Such gorgeous babies. Sending kisses to sweet Minnie too. Lavender curls up like Skye, in her closet, every morning when I’m trying to get dressed–my boss accepts “kitty was too cute” as a valid excuse if I’m late.
Off for a haircut and errands, then I will warp more warp chains for a longer version of the table runner. The project’s Ravelry page shows the dark side (first photo) and the bright side (second photo) in detail. My friend says the colors work perfectly!

I’ll also try to put up my permanent outdoor lights on my balcony. I can set up different color schemes for different times of the year. Meant to do it last weekend but time got away from me. This weekend will be sunny and in the 50s F, so I shouldn’t overheat!
Oh your runner turned out gorgeous! I love the colors. And thanks again for the video. I showed it to a few people. 🙂
Just gorgeous!!! You are so talented. Reminds me of a sunset or a church stained glass window.
Thanks, and I’ll share the credit with my friend. She helped choose colors for the bright side.
Wow that’s gorgeous!
I love that runner, it is downright beautiful!
Fellow Cutetropolitans, I need some love and support this weekend.
Our car is dead and in pieces on my parents’ garage floor.
Least liked BIL is in disgrace at work for leaving an unconscious man lying on the ground without checking to see if he was ok. He was.
Hubby and I both having stress flare ups.
Duckie in egg laying frenzy, even though alone.
Mail strike holding up cheques needed for bills.
BFF and her hubby in job crises.
Other detested BIL spent family medication funds on new TV.
Incoming storm.
Sending virtual hugs.
Are budgie eggs edible? And how many would you need for an omelette? 🤔
Allein!

What?
Sending lots and lots of hugs and purrs, Duckie. So sorry for all this trouble.
I’m sending Stormy and Skye loving purrs hopefully that helps a little.
Oh, Duckie, I am so sorry! Pretzel sends loving bunny kisses!
(Btw, my mouth just fell open in disbelief at BIL antics!)
Thank you, everyone, for your support. It’s helping.
Duckie, sending lots of hugs!
Dear lord, just unreal. With family like that, you don’t need enemies. Sounds worthy of a Spanish telenovela show. And so sorry for all the other issues. Sometimes it seems like it doesn’t just rain but it pours. Hugs and hopefully everything works out, sooner than later.
Maybe that’s duckie’s answer: she should write a telenovela! It would be therapeutic and might make lots of $$$&$$.
Thanks, Deb. That actually made me laugh.
Going in for belleh snorgles and scritches.
Sending lots of virtual hugs, Duckie! Fingers crossed that something good will happen soon!
I am sorry that you’re having a bad time. Sounds like you have some real d!cks for BIL.
Hold on to each, breathe deeply and know that it will be tough but you’ll get through this.
BREAKING NEWS!!!
Mabel is eight!!
The halo-effect sun was beautiful!
Like that ending pic of him and Mabel👍🏼
Thanks for posting that, Allein! I read Andrew’s book Olive, Mabel, and me while I was in the hospital starting November 1st. Got out yesterday, thank goodness! Roommate was seriously crazy, and cursed me all the night before for imagined crimes. Enough negativity.
Glad to be back and catching up with the cute! My kitties seemed to be happy to see me, though I could swear one did a double-take!
I have that book around here somewhere…haven’t read it yet. That’s a long time in the hospital! Glad you’re home!
Carlotta, it’s great to have you back with us. Hope you’re fully recovered now.
