I love the way Skye is keeping a tight hold on her bed, just in case someone tries to steal it!
It’s been a good week at the Shortcakery. According to the last blood test my liver functions are almost back to normal. I enjoyed a freakishly warm day out in Whitby, passing through the moorland village of Goathland (famous for it’s free-range sheep) and enjoying the sight of two lambs attempting to clamber between the bars of a gate marked ‘PRIVATE, NO ENTRY’. Finally, I managed to sell my English Civil War almanac to an antiquarian bookseller in York. I wasn’t expecting more than about £200 for it as more items of this type have survived than you might think, but the hand-written poems about the execution of Charles I must have boosted its value as I received £500!
Congrats on all fronts, Alice! I’m so happy for you.
Wow! Great deal!
It will cover the cost of a new steel-framed front door!
Congratulation on both the results on your liver and the sale!
Excellent news all around! Congrats!
Congratulations on your double-good news!
Happy Caturday! Skye is beautiful!
Yesterday we had auditors at work and we ended up not leaving until 10:00! PM! My boss will make it up to us but it won’t be until later in the month because this week is month end and also our fiscal year end, so I have to work this weekend. My cousin’s daughter and her husband set up a page on a site called Caring Bridge where they can post updates on their son’s leukemia treatment; he seems to be handling things pretty well so far, despite pain in his leg. Last update said his blood cell counts were moving in the right direction. My friend’s husband had surgery a few days ago which will hopefully help his pain but his cancer is “incurable”; hopefully they can shrink it and at least keep it at bay.
My goal for the day, between work stuff, is to put the screen protector on my new phone, unpack the box of stuff that came the other day and has been sitting by the door since, and collect as many pieces of paper as I can find around my house to get rid of. And dishes. And maybe some laundry.
Yay, Alice for good health news and extra money and cute lamb sightings!
The dogs were so good, there were extras!
The Chihuahua—Naples! Too funny man! Mom must be a huge deal to him😆
Grabbing the collar to take the dog home😂 Good Girl!
Yeah, tiny Chihuahuas got personality that equals or exceeds that of the tallest dogs🙄
Love Skye’s markings! Such a pretty kitty.
Off to breakfast and then haircut shortly. After that, theres a Cinco de Mayo festival downtown that I want to check out. Sounds like a lot of fun – luche libra wrestlers, mariachi bands, and chihuahua races! I’d bring my two but the fast one (Val) would probably try to eat the other competitors, lol. Tomorrow will be errands day and possibly yard work. And somewhere in there I want to get some painting done. Have a great weekend all!
In my family, it’s Cinco de Molly…after my cousin’s daughter who will be 13!
Chihuahua races? Man, are they televised? Cos I’ll be there👍🏼
With all the baby goats this past week, I saved this senior goat I came across to share today:
Bonus: what happened to his ears (nothing):
Check out the other posts on this site! The farmer is living his best life with so many animals to love and tend💙
I luff this goat so much. It’s like Noah took selective cat listening to a whole new level.
My favorite is this one. And ah yeah, Noah is the GOATest goat, gotta love the crazy (like breaking out at 3 am cause the neighbors have bananas 🤦♀️🤪😂😂).
Happy Caturday, everyone! Skye, your beautiful markings and sweet face brighten the world. I’m glad you still fit in your sink.
I’m off to breakfast in a few minutes, with a friend from Indivisible. It’s been a HUGE week but I have to keep things short.
First, my company is changing ownership. We’ve been waiting and hoping since late January, and the paperwork was finally signed on Wednesday. The switcheroo happens on August 1. It’s great for the current owners, who are in their mid 70s and 80s respectively. And it’s great for the rest of us. My direct boss, their son-in-law, will stay in place. I will get to help with transitioning our desperately out of date old MRP and ERP systems (which run manufacturing, inventory, sales and shipping) to a new integrated system. Our new owner is based in Holland, and he runs a very similar loom and spinning wheel manufacturing company called Louet. So I’m learning Dutch on Duolingo.
Second, I’m finally doing the big overhaul of knitting yarns, weaving yarns, and unspun fiber! I’ve got about 8 cubic feet of yarn already that I hope to give away somehow. Have to finish sorting and spreadsheeting what I’m keeping today, before the cats get creative.
Hugs to you all!
Send the yarn to Duckie!🐥😉
It’s mostly wool, so I don’t think she’ll take it. But it’s a great idea!
Lurking…

“Just showed up one day” 😆😂
Hello everyone, sorry I’m late I overslept, I haven’t been sleeping well the past few days so I took a pill last night and wow did it work.
Yes Skye is 3 years old already and I don’t know where the time went. Why is it the older you get the faster time flies?
Well I’m already late for my Saturday chores so I’ll bid you good day and I hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Eberyone, Ib miserable today.
My allergies have me completely incapacitated today. meh!
Skye is so beautiful! She looks like a sweet sweet cat.
Thanks for all the videos Allein – it’s about all I can handle today even though I have so much to do.
Tara, so sorry. Hugs and healing kitty purrs.
Greetings to all Cutetropolitans.
It’s Saturday, and I’m beat. It’s been a week of wondering what has possessed my family. Dad bought a chainsaw (he’s going on eighty) and took on a thirty year old willow that was breaking windows. He won. Older sister devastated her husband by telling him some of my parents’ will and why they never liked him, and now he’s sad. Younger sister’s husband wrecked job property and hid it, not realizing that cameras actually record, and now HE is sad. I tried to remove my left index finger with a carving knife because corn in the microwave popped and scared me, and my hubby was amazed by how fast I went into shock, and came out. Finger is ok. Duckie decided that the bandage on my finger was out to kill her, and shrieked every time she saw it. And Baby has decided that great-grandma is the best person to have noisy diapers on, and great-grandma only holds her during church on Sundays.
Big week coming; crazy busy spring cleaning.
Have an awesome weekend, everyone. Especially you, Skye.
No wonder you’re exhausted. Want my yarn?
😊
I would love some. But it would probably be expensive to ship.
It’s mostly wool, but I’ll happily cram it into a box if you want it.
Yes?
If I can’t use it, I know someone who knits layettes for single moms.
Sounds like a difficult week. Pretzel sends bunny kisses💋
Wow what a week. At least dad was the winner in man vs tree episode. With a chain saw, it could have been a bad outcome the other way.
Okay, I wasn’t going to share anything else, but this was just posted and I know we all love a good nature documentary…
It’s like Fabio became a dog at the end.
🤣
How cute! Love Dachshunds💗
This and Honey are absolutely fab.u.lous! I have to send to my friend who has three doxies. And poor Honey, she has a look being perpetually worried.
beautiful Skye today! We’re enjoying the weather in Vienna… it’s supposed to turn cold again on Monday. We’re having mint juleps to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. Tomorrow my students are the “opening act” for the Vienna Philharmonic at the Musikverein – we have tickets for both! Have a great weekend, y’all!
