When people say “Cats have nine lives” it’s because our feline friends do dangerous things that make humans nervous. For Caturday, here’s an example from reader Georgiana Y.:
Both Skye and Storm love sitting on this half wall and watching me prepare diner but it really makes me nervous because it’s a big drop to the basement stairwell on the other side and I’m afraid they’ll fall and hurt themselves.

Happy Caturday…isn’t your shadow supposed to be the same shape as you?
I have to go get my car inspected. It’s either today or next Saturday and it will most likely be even worse next week since it’s the last Saturday of the month. I don’t have a day off until July 3 so I don’t want to risk getting pulled over for an expired sticker. They’re only open until noon on Saturday so I want to get there before 10:00 (I could have gone as early as 7:00 but that’s just crazy talk). We’re almost done with the year-end audit at work (I hope. I’m going crazy). Sadly my boss’s brother passed away the other day, so I don’t know when he’ll be in the office next week. Then he’s on vacation the following week. Not looking forward to a few days of 95-100 degree temps later this week. My parents got home from my dad’s Navy ship reunion yesterday. They decided to disband the reunion group so this was the last one 🙁. The guy who’s been in charge of planning them the last several years is ready to step down from that job, and my dad has also been president for longer than he was supposed to be (they voted to let him serve an extra term because of the pandemic), and I guess there’s no one willing and able to take over (I did the math; if the youngest person on the ship in its last year was 18, they’d be in their early 70s now, and I’m pretty sure most of the reunion group was older than that). Tomorrow we do Father’s Day since my brother’s flight delays last weekend meant he didn’t get home until sometime Sunday.
But the dogs were good again. Who’s up for a weenie roast?! 🌭
The roasting wieners!😂 Stark! Poor puppers. 😆
They’re self-turning!
Car successfully inspected! They had four lanes open so the line moved reasonably quickly. Waited maybe 15 minutes (last time they only had two open and the line was longer to start with so I was there a lot longer…I actually started reading a book between inching forward every few minutes). Though their little ticket dispenser box on the way in is too far away and too high for me; I hit my head on my door frame trying to scoot over enough in my seat to barely reach the button and take the ticket (though one time I actually hurt my shoulder trying to reach and then had to pull up a little further so I could open the door and get out so at least that didn’t happen again). The new sticker is even blue like my car which is a small, silly thing that makes me happy. 😄
Glad it went quickly! Reminds me that my inspection is due soon too… sigh. Such a racket.
So happy for Sienna the medical alert pup! WRD posted more info about her story: The folks she helped already had 3 dogs, so they couldn’t adopt her, but they praised her to the skies.
Folks, even if you’ve seen these goldens with their tennis ball in the pool, look at them again. And be sure to watch BOTH videos. I laughed until I cried.
Maybe you could get Skye and Storm a couple of protruding ledges? If you put them slightly below the railing level they would be less likely to fall. ???

Shelves seem like a good idea to me.
OMG the suspense was killing me! “Will he ever find her?!”
That is just adorable!
I love that little dog!
Talk about a high wire act with kitties! Maybe put a safety net slightly below and across the opening. But most cats ate usually pretty nimble so (fingers crossed I don’t jinx things) they should be ok.
Sounds like a busy week Allein. I keep wondering when they’re going to disband my husband’s Navy reunion group. The ship was decommissioned back in the early 1990s so the youngest are in their 50s but they’re generally not involved, it’s usually the older crowd and they’re all up there. I think there’s a reunion either this year or next but luckily it’s in my town so I can send him over to hang out and I don’t have to go.
Got my crafty weekend this weekend. Painting class today and craft workshop at the museum tomorrow. We’re making crayons! And I’ll probably finish my latest painting this weekend. I planned on doing that on Thur but after doing yard work, and running errands, I was so tired, all I could do was veg in front of the TV. Oh and sometime amongst all that, I need to do laundry, clean the floors and grocery shop. Plus the truck is getting serviced this morning. After all that, I think I need to go back to work to get a rest, lol. Enjoy the summer solstice weekend everyone!
Your crafty weekends sound like so much fun! And yard work is always exhausting.
It’s a cool wet weekend in Duckieville. My bones and joints are objecting, but the rest of me loves it.
Georgiana, your cats are beautiful, but scary.
Little Duckie is lethargic, and I’m hoping she’s ok.
Second oldest nephew got married yesterday. We’re expecting my oldest nephew to propose soon, and that will be the last of my sisters’ kids marrying. The rest of my older sister’s kids are too selfish to want to live for someone else, and my younger sister’s kids would do best by letting their father’s bloodline end. Harsh, but true.
Getting finances in order this week.
Not much else happening. I’m doing a great deal of waiting, it seems. Not good at it.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.
I have just learned some important news.
It’s National Dachshund Day! 🌭
How can one man be so talented? And so wise about dogs?
I was hoping he had a “What’s This Dog?” video about them but I didn’t find one.
Hi All, ooft, the heat is creeping in! And my keyboard is acting up, typing too many letters sometimes, and ignoring that I’m banging repeatedly on a letter at other times without typing.
Georgiana, I’ve had the scares too with Jacques and Swee’Pea. They liked to sit on the 2nd floor banister until I’d come up. Jacques can’t jump so high anymore and Swee’Pea stopped doing it when Butch moved in. Maybe you need a Butch?
I need to clean today and put air conditioners in. I took Friday off and made raspberry vinegar as well as garlic scape pickles. Looking forward to tasting them! I picked loads of raspberries and will grab the last of them today. With this heat they will go to mold very quickly. I’d like to make jam today. Possibly former neighbor is coming up for a BBQ. We skipped Thursday because of weather.
And happy to national Dachshund Day! We had wire hair Dachsies growing up. My mom was German so, of course, they were bilingual. Even now, I’ve been telling Jacques, “mach auf” instead of “open up” when I’m trying to squirt the nasty antibiotics into his mouth. 2 syllables v. 3? Much more efficient. But it’s not helping anyway. His little claw is still swollen and painful. So we have another appointment on Wednesday afternoon. There was talk of x-rays and amputation last time. 😢 I just need him to be healthy, I’m supposed to go home to California at the end of July. For once I am seriously considering taking him with me if he is not of perfect health.
Oh, poor Jacques! I’m so sorry for his pain and your worry. The x-rays should help a lot.
So worrying when something is wrong with our babies. I hope they don’t have to amputate😬
Do you drive or fly to California? Does he travel well? You don’t want to stress him out, and for
some pets travel is stressful.
Storm is such a perfect void! I love Skye’s tail curl. They look so beautiful and confident on their wall.
I massively overslept, so the day is off to a slow start. Today is the second day of our heat advisory–it was over 100 yesterday. At least it’s a dry heat. Tomorrow is the farmers market where I’m hoping to score some garlic scrapes for roasting. It’s probably the only time I’ll be outside, except for taking out trash! Then it drops down to the 70s on Monday.
You all might want to see my ice-dyeing results on yarn and tee shirts. The video is at https://youtu.be/IdHFmVsrp-k?si=_XkcWuUmxB7HIRYT and I’ll post some photos on Ravelry today.
Happy Caturday and hugs to you all.
Here are photos of my new tees, which are machine-washable bamboo. I had varied results with the yarn that went in the same pot, but I’m really pleased with my new summer wardrobe.
