Happy Caturday! Kitty looks like he won’t take no for an answer. It’s raining again. I am determined to get something accomplished in my house this weekend. (I’m off to a great start, by decluttering something…by breaking a glass mug. It started to tip off the back of the dish drainer and I tried to catch it. Probably just made things worse. Anyway, RIP mug.) And finish my overdue library book that I can’t renew again.

I’m sorry, Noodle. I’ll never do it again.

They are all the bestest bois and grrls.

Thank goodness for the follow up to the Uppies! Broke my heart that we didn’t get that on the first round. And that wire-haired Dachshund… those were our dogs growing up. They are so independence and self reliant.

The wire-haired dachshund staring out the window reminds me soooo much of my Tinkerbell! 1968-1983.

Birthday party for Cole about did me in–what a lovely thing!

Folks, you absolutely have to go to Instagram for the full video on the golden who “lost” his ball. My sides hurt from laughing. It’s worth signing up for WRD’s daily dog emails because you get all these links.

Good Morning, Why yes, yes I will snorgle that fluffy belleh!
Quite a roller coaster of a week. I took Jacques to the vet on Monday because he seems skinnier than ever and appears to be in pain. After blood work and a urine test, turns out we’ve been over dosing him with the thyroid medication! We’ve dropped that down and added gabapentin twice a day. I think the gabapentin is helping. I’m waiting for the vet to let me know he has new meds for Jacques kidneys. I’ll try to pick them up this morning. I say try because I got both flu and COVID shots yesterday and as usual I feel pretty crummy. Going to stay in bed as much as possible.
In other adventures, our neighborhood stray, Squirt, got stuck in the empty house next door. Squirt is a very cute mixed up Tuxie, who doesn’t seem to be too bright. Wednesday my tenant and I tried to pry open the basement security flaps to lure him out. He absolutely could have fit, but didn’t trust it. I left it propped open with a brick wedged under the cover over night hoping he would find some courage to come out. Nope. Thursday, I talked to someone who got in touch with the owner. Owner came, but of course that didn’t work because Squirt doesn’t know them and hid. So I finally borrowed the right drill bit from work, unscrewed the boards on the door, and while the Stoner on the stoop next door kept lookout, I went in and Squirt came right up to me. Now I’ve got to figure out what to do with him. He is very sweet, a bit skittish, needs to be fixed and probably needs vaccines.
And finally, we got a notification from UPenn that there is supposed to be an impromptu “gathering” at the corner of my street this afternoon/evening. This is not an organized rally, rather, it’s a social media “bombing” which tend to get violent. I’m hoping since the Penn Police are working to keep it from happening, they succeed.
And that’s it for me. I might do some online Christmas shopping, knit on my Dad’s Christmas sock, but mostly just veg out.

I hope Jacques gets better with the new medicine for his kidney and now that his thyroid medicine has been adjusted.

      • Tara November 22, 2025 / 10:04 am

        Thanks Georgiana, me too :).

Sorry about all the ups and (mostly) downs. Good luck with all the health matters, both human and feline. We’re sending healing purrs.

        Thanks DebG 😊

HappyWeekend! It may be a trap but I’ll take a chance to rub and huff that belly.

And yes it’s been a week here. Rainy and cool for most of the week. Then Thursday, had a fire drill at work that ended up being the real thing. The building I work in is also an event space with a kitchen on the first floor. So they were having an event and I guess one of the catering hot boxes (where they keep food warm) got a little too warm and started to fill the meeting room with smoke. All we smelt was something like toasted marshmallows. So fire dept came, put out the fire, and then vented the building. Just a little excitement to break up the week. Then there was the rush to get caught up as I’m off from all next week. HR at work emailed and let me know that I had to take vacation days as I had reached my limit. If I didn’t take about 6 days, I wouldn’t be able to accrue any next year until I dropped below that limit. Gee darn boss, gotta take some vacation. So off at Thanksgiving, and off all Christmas week. 😁

Went out to dinner last night at a just opened restaurant and they had a robot waiter!!!! Along of course, with human servers but still so funky seeing this thing come rolling thru the restaurant. Welcome to the age of the Jetsons. And it was polite too. When moving through the restaurant, its screen said “Excuse me, please”. Today is breakfast out, then off to the Holiday Market at the local Japanese Garden. Might find some cute little gifts for my co-workers. Later I have to stop by the library and sign up for next month’s painting class. Not sure what I’ll do with all my free time next week. I’m going for my Covid shot on Monday but so far that’s the only thing planned. Depending on the weather, I’ll probably do some gardening clean up and some painting.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!

How could anyone refuse such an inviting belly!

Great news guys, I’m finally Covid negative! I still have a bit of sinus congestion, probably a secondary infection but it’s also going away.

We went out for breakfast Friday morning for the first time in over a month, then we went grocery shopping, it felt great to finally get out of the house.

Hope everyone is healthy and has a good weekend.

      Yay!

Brace yourself, oh floofy one, I’m moving in on that belleh.
It’s a cold wet Saturday morning here, but this fluff ball makes a decent substitute for the sun. I want to have a lazy day, but I have too much to do. And I’m finally going to meet SoccerSue this afternoon!
It looks like hubby is going to get December 23, 24 and 25 off. We are not telling ANYONE here, as we want at least one day to ourselves.
Christmas shopping is done; just need to wrap a few final things. Going to be mailing a baby blanket to my nephew in Alberta. They haven’t said anything, but my auntie senses are tingling. They got married last June.
Off to wreak havoc on life. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.

    • SoccerSue November 22, 2025 / 12:17 pm

      See you soon! 😀

  6. DEBG November 22, 2025 / 11:42 am

I always go in for belleh rubs, because my kitties live for them. Can’t imagine that this gorgeous gingerette will mind!

Sounds like you all are having exciting times! And except for Tara, it sounds like people are on the mend healthwise–this is great news. Plus all the vacation time. I’m stuck working because other people took time off and the Monday after Thanksgiving is always a mess: people have 4 days to buy things on our website, and I have to help process all the orders. A 5th day would probably kill me.

This weekend involves sorting out a mess I made on a proposed weaving project–I kept changing colors of yarn and ultimately switched to a color that will run out. I also want to plan for big projects for next weekend, involving dye pots and sewing machine as well as the usual loom and spinning wheel.

Hugs to you all. Stay on that healthy train!

I am in purgatory, also known as the waiting room at the car service shop.

every time I get my car repaired I have to remind myself that its still less than car payments plus the new car maintenance.

plus, i have to go to use the car dealership as its hard to get parts for a 2001 model car.

    • DEBG November 22, 2025 / 4:07 pm

Oh dear. Hope you get out of purgatory soon. Can I buy some indulgences for you? (nerdy history joke)

      • Kar November 22, 2025 / 7:20 pm

        thanks for the offer.

        we’re a Vatican II household.

(not really, we’re more post-95 theses)

I have met SoccerSue, and she is lovely.
And the duckie flannel she brought is adorable.

Thank you! You are, as well (lovely, and adorable)! You’ll have to post a photo here of the pajamas you make with it. 😁

Luckily, my cat is good about belly rubs, even if not much else!
It’s my birthday and I would like to go out to eat, but I’m on oxygen, and haven’t gotten my portable machine, yet. Grumble. It’s really hard to get everything organized.
I’ll go now to get my dinner of homemade, very low salt, chicken salad. It is quite good, if I say so myself. And eggnog with bourbon.
