Good morning and welcome to the weekend! Hope everyone got a good night’s rest — just like Jacques, who claimed the top spot in reader Tara O.’s bed:
The photo was taken around 3 am. Jacques also approves of the new mattress and insists on the center position. I started my evening rest in the middle, but then…

Jacques seems to be dreaming about being on the diving team in the next Olympics…
I’m currently resting (but not on a new mattress) after straining a few underused muscles whilst painting over some water damage on the bedroom and loft ceilings. This job could have been done months ago but I wanted to make sure the roof repairs were finished and no more water could seep in. I have to admit that I’ve now reached the age of being uneasy up ladders!
Speaking of age, I was delighted to learn that a revival of one of my all-time favourite shows is coming to my local theatre – the RSC’s bunraku-style puppet version of Shakespeare’s “Venus and Adonis”. I was under the impression that I saw the production at Stratford a few years before Covid, but in fact it was…2004! It’s unbelievable that 22 years have passed since then.
Such a cat! Move over Jacques, and let momma have some space. Most people who let their pets sleep with them usual end up as pretzels, lol.
Finally have a break in the heat, only going to be in the 80s the next few days. May have to put on the long sleeves, lol. Not much planned for the weekend. I just want to get out of the house. I worked from home the last few days and with the heat, didn’t really go anywhere so I’ve got some cabin fever. Might go see a movie, might go walk the mall. Hope everyone has a lovely first weekend of spring.
Happy Caturday! Well, maybe not at 3am… today is for cleaning up stuff.
The dogs were good…. Nice to see those blue collar jobs getting some attention.
Bonus: Snow Dogs
I’ve now watched snow dogs twice this morning. AJ must have sent her hot weather to Colorado–it’s supposed to be 93 F / 34 C here today.
Hi, All – just popped in to say I’m still lurking. We’re approaching the 2 3/4 mark of my husband’s being confined to bed with Parkinson’s – we have coverage for a live-in aide another year and then who knows. But things are on a relatively even keel right now so I mustn’t grumble.
Nice to see familiar names still contributing to the joy and sweetness here. Sadly I have no pets but hope to again at some point. Meanwhile I can enjoy the ones you all post!
Hi, Murray!
We miss you. Hugs to you and your hubby.
Hi Murray! (waves furiously) so nice to hear from you! Thanks for giving us an update. I’m about to go out and use that fabulous clipper/chain saw you recommended a few years back. I always think of you when it needs to come out. Sending you light and love and lots of hugs!
Happy first weekend of spring.
Jacques, that spot is perfect for you.
Recovering from several health issues. No weight loss, which surprised me.
Planning a family get together for Easter. Looks like the entire family will be there, probably along with a few non-family non-invitees who just show up anyway.
Hubby having horrid time at work. It’s spring break here, and, for some reason, the younger teens are testing every single regulation at the mall. Security even had to call the fire department to extricate a girl’s toe from the bottom of the escalator, because she didn’t think her toe could actually get caught!
On the cute side, I am being inundated with tiny birds on my deck every afternoon. I put bird seed out around lunchtime, and within seconds, dozens of phoebe birds descend and make the most charming sounds while they eat. Two of them have been assessing my soil filled flower pots, and if they actually build nests, I’m going to be dizzy with glee.
Hubby is demanding that I keep my glow in the dark projects put away at night, or at least covered. I have that yarn I soaked in the glow paint wound into two balls sitting on my craft table. He walked into the room this morning, in the dark, and was freaked out by the two big eyes watching him!
Today I’m coffee-ing with my bff, and then getting gardening supplies.
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and start of spring. Stay safe.
Jacques looks like he high-dived onto the bed and landed like that. Such a sweetie. Even a little tiny kitten can take up the whole bed–ask me how I know.
The day is not off to a good start. Heard a few hours ago that another actor on Buffy the Vampire Slayer just died, at 54. Since I just finished a marathon rewatch, it’s hitting really hard. Plus the expected heat today, and my ongoing cough, and the world’s continual downward spiral thanks to a particular orange world leader . . .
Good news about wild birbs, Shakespeare, and weekend plans are helping. Keep sharing, everybody!
Hugs to you all.
Hugs to you too DebG. I saw that this morning. Very sad and much too young.
I all! Sorry for the blown out photo – had to be taken with a flash. I got up for glass of water. Jacques had been on top of the pillow when I left but by the time I got back he had done this cannon ball slide off the pillow right into the middle of the bed. How can you move him then? I finished the night sideways. [By the way – those are my new IKEA sheets. I wasn’t thrilled about the solid blue sheets, but they were the smoothest and are growing on me now. ]
I’m late because I went to my accountant to try to get both 2024 and 2025 taxes done. I’d skipped the appointment I had on the 13th because I wasn’t ready. But did not know they had a cut off of March 17th for on-time filing. So I am still. not. finished. with. the. blasted. things! Ugh! She said they do them in order so they’ll filed pretty quickly after the extension, but still. I so wanted to be finished.
I’m going to go out in the garden now and yank some more weeds up and see what I can out there. Take care everyone!❤️
