Weekend Open Thread

Welcome to the Caturday open thread! Today’s special guest will discuss how cats gain power over their humans.

A cat sits on a table next to a book titled "power/knowledge" by Michael Foucault
It comes naturally, no reading required.

Such a pretty void. Cats could probably teach governments the finer points of mind control.

I think this weekend is going to be a washout, literally. Looks clouds and rain for most of the weekend. I was planning to go to the annual art festival downtown, I’ll hit that early before the rain starts but bring an umbrella just in case. It seems that there’s always “weather” for this event. One year it was ridiculously hot, you just baked, and then last year, I got caught in the rain with no umbrella and had to make my way home drip, dripping all the way. Grocery shopping tomorrow, along with laundry and starting to pack for my trip. Tomorrow is one week until my cruise!!! So excited! Still waffling on what to bring, not sure how warm it will be. So I may just cover all my bases and bring both jeans and shorts, t-shirts and a hoody but I think I’ll leave the sandals home. Why can’t it be like the early 1900s when you just brought everything in 20 trunks, lol. Happy weekend all!

You might want to pack cold weather clothes for your cruise, even if you are supposedly going to a warm destination.
A couple weeks ago a cruise that was supposed to go to Bermuda ended up going to New Brunswick, Canada instead! The weather/seas weren’t good for a trip to Bermuda, so the cruise line said. It seems that cruises have the right to change the destination with short notice, but that was ridiculous.
Anyway, fingers crossed that your cruise will go as planned and to the right destination!

That happened to a family friend years ago. The weather did not want them to go south.

Wow, that’s a big difference. You think you’re going for fun in the sun and a tan but you end up as Nanuck of the North. 😁🤣🤣 Well I’m already going north so I’m not sure where else they could send us. Hopefully not Mexico but if they send us to Hawaii, I wouldn’t complain. The only thing I’m a little concerned about is flying back. A lot of airlines are canceling flights due to lack of jet fuel. Oh well if that happens, we can either drive back or take the train.

    Hello everyone!

Spring has finally sprung here with sunshine and warm temperature, I’m actually going to hand the wash to dry outside for the first time this year!

    Also it’s Skye’s 4th birthday today!

Happy birthday Skye! It looks like you’re either snoozing after the festivities or resting up to have a blast later. Enjoy, hope momma has some yummy treats for you.

      Happy birthday, beautiful girl!

Gloomy and rainy here in Jersey today. It just started raining; the ground is mostly wet but the sidewalk has some dry spots (which I’m sure will be gone soon). Looks like freckles. High in the low 50s. I have a headache; hoping the advil I just took can head off something worse.

    But the dogs were lifesavers…

I met June and Fritz yesterday, and I’m still laughing. A good antidote to #1 dog’s harrowing story–good luck, Trinity!

Happy Caturday, everyone. It’s funny how cats gain power without much knowledge—like they just instinctively know how to yank our chains. Voids are especially talented in this regard, as my Scorpius can attest.

It’s a cloudy, kinda chilly weekend here in northern CO. I love it! Since we went from barely winter to early summer, I don’t mind going back to spring. The seasons don’t seem to mean much here anymore.

My fiber festival two weeks ago has got me inspired to try lots of new things, which is a little overwhelming. Warp the floor loom for my deflected doubleweave shawl, which has been waiting forever? Practice spinning cotton on a spindle, from my class at the festival? Dive into tablet weaving, a way to weave fancy bands and my newest obsession? Finish the blouse I started sewing weeks ago? Or maybe spend some time updating my project queue, so I can prioritize all these great ideas?

    Hugs to you all.

A bright sunny Saturday morning to all. Including you, Maggie. And happy birthday to Skye.
We finally have proper spring weather here, and Mother Nature is going crazy to take advantage of it. Flowers, leaves, and wildlife all propagating at the speed of light. I feel like a voyeur every time I look out the window. I now know more about the breeding habits of raccoons, birds, cats and squirrels than I ever wanted to know. And I can say “it’s three o’clock in the morning” in robin, chickadee, crow, and blue jay.
A spider has built a web in front of the security light on our deck. Brilliant idea, really. All the moth and things attracted by light fly to the light and end up in the web. Miss Spider has started a larder behind the light, and it is filling fast.
I found out yesterday that I am going to become a great aunt again! Grand-Duckie is going to add another to her collection. My niece says, based on her cravings, it’s going to be a girl. Apparently chocolate cravings are indicators of gender.
Off to finish a delicious mug of tea, and then go for a walk.
    Have a fabulous weekend, everyone.
