Yes you are majestic. As well as marvelous, stunning. I could go on and on.
Yah to summer!! Have a busy weekend planned out. Breakfast with friends, haircut, some window shopping followed by grocery shopping. Tomorrow is our annual Lego display at the park. Our park has what they call hospitality houses of the world (originally set up for one of the World Expos and the city kept them) like Germany, Scotland, China, Denmark, etc. And each house during the summer has one Sunday that is focused on them, so this weekend it’s Denmark’s turn. And with Lego being Danish they always invite us to set up a display. Me and hubby will have the Lego gumball machine set up for kids to try their luck and win prizes! Thankfully we’re doing it earlier this year and it won’t be as warm as other years. Have a fun weekend everyone!
That sounds like fun, have a great time!
I’m late; I thought more people would be here by now! It’s 85F right now and supposed to get up to 90. Guess it’s a day for (hopefully) getting some stuff done around the house.
I’m doing a 30-day walking challenge in the month of June with the Walking is Fitness podcast but I might have to just walk up and down my hallway (which takes me about 8 steps to get from the table to my bedroom door), unless I go walk in the evening later. It’s not supposed to get below 80 until 9pm so I might end up walking in the dark (which isn’t ideal but I’ve done it and not felt unsafe). The goal is 10 minutes a day; usually I do more but that’s the minimum. Even if I just do laps around my street and the one behind me I can do maybe 2-3 laps in 10 minutes (I timed it from a certain point the other day and it took me just under four minutes to get back to the grate I started the timer at, walking at a normal pace). The last couple days I did 20 minutes in the gym (which is the default time on the treadmill if you just hit the start button and go); if it’s nice out I’ll walk around the parking lot (which takes about 10 minutes to do a lap) but it was too hot the last couple days and there is no shade out there. The challenge came with a printable of a ring of 30 footprints and you color in one each time you walk, which is kind of silly but makes it a little more fun.
We almost missed a good dog! Thank goodness for editing.
Plus (a little late)…the Best dogs of May!
I walk around 6:30 in the evening to avoid the heat. But it’s not humid here like it is for you.
Actually the humidity is only around 44% right now. According to my weather app it’s currently 88 and feels like 85 because of wind. Still too hot for me to do a midday walk.
Every garden needs a smoky grey plant inspector. So handsome.
Peeps, I need to vent/rant a little because yesterday wasn’t great. My leased car (through October of this year) developed a slow leak in one tire. Went to the dealer, because they would have fixed it for free if it could be repaired. It could not–the puncture was too close to the sidewall. OK, replace one tire, no big deal–maybe a few hundred bucks. Imagine my shock to learn that all four tired had to be replaced, at over $1800, because the treads were too worn down on all of them. One new tire would have thrown off the balance, and I would have had to replace all of them anyway when the lease is up. I get that stuff happens, but tire treads should not wear down so much with less than than 15,000 miles on the car. Why would auto makers put crappy tires on their brand new vehicles?
Then, after 3.5 hours at the dealership waiting for them to finish, I got home and learned that one my fave actors, from my fave show of all time, had died. RIP, Anthony Stewart Head. Plus I’m worried about George Weasleycat.
In happier news, my new Pride TYDISH shirt is arriving today. And I’ve got lots of new yarn to play with.
Hugs to you all.
Ouch about the car.
And yeah, Anthony Head died. RIP Ripper.
Oh no, I’m so sorry DebG! That is outrageous! I’m calling BS. First of all, you would only need two new tires to keep the car balanced – and second the thing about the treads? Nonsense. I’m so sorry. And you have the right to be irritated. I’m so sorry, and I know this isn’t not helpful after the fact. I think I would have gasped out loud and said something along the lines of I’ll have to consult my bank account and then gone straight to an independent mechanic (after checking the Better Business Bureau) and asked them for a quote. That sum is outrageous.
I’m glad you had a Pride shirt and yarn to make you feel better!
Under other circumstances, I might have left and gone elsewhere. But I’d already been driiving for a week with a slow leak and was 15 miles from home.
My new shirt is fantastic!

It’s Bodie!
They have a whole collection of Pride pups. I can’t get over Ruth and her ears (slide #8). 🥰
Aww, the Pride Pups are FABOO! I love the rainbow eyebrow one. Well, I love them all, but those are amazing eyebrows.
Lurking …
Good morning, handsome. You are the exact same colour as the cloud that drenched me yesterday. I muchly prefer you.
Things are getting a little bit better in Duckieville. My tax refund is going to buy a new laptop for me, so that I can do more writing. Hubby has a project in mind which, if successful, could lead to retirement for him. Parents seem a bit more stable. My chest cold seems to be finally going away, after four weeks. And I have begun thinking about possibly contemplating the idea of maybe considering discussing the acquisition of another Duckie.
Deb, I hope George Weasleycat gets better.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
Yes to another Duckie. Hopefully another sassy one.
Thanks for the good wishes.
I too vote for a new Duckie, but only when you are really ready. ❤️
Glad your tax refund will be generous. I’m still waiting on mine.
Hi All, what a absolutely gorgeous kitty. I bet that fur is so soft!
Phew! What a day. A while back I realized my shed was slowly collapsing. I finally connected with a local guy to help me fix it. It has turned into a much bigger project. After we got it all cleaned out, we realized it had torqued. So not only did we need to lift it, but we had to twist it. Thank goodness for the West Philly Tool Library. I was able to check out a table saw, a chop saw, three structural support poles and a 2 ton capacity jack, for one week, all for the cost of $50/year membership. What a deal! We broke one of the support beams – womp womp, so I’ll have to pay extra for that – but we spent nine hours today, slowly raising the roof up and putting bricks under the places that needed more support, and we made progress. But we still haven’t finished. Hopefully we can get it done on Wednesday which is when J. has another day open to work with me. I can’t afford more of his help after that. All that is to say – I am wiped out. Thank goodness I had a gorgeous kitty and such good dogs to sit down to.
One last thing, I got an email from the Philly Water Department with a call for their Spokesdog competition! Here’s their teaser:
If you think your dog has what it takes to lead the way to poo-lution-free waters, enter the competition!
🤣🤣🤣
Wow! I’ve taken on some intense DIY projects, but never lifting and twisting a shed. No wonder you’re wiped out.
Love the spokesdog line! I’ve been chuckling all day over one I saw on Friday
Sending best juju to George Weasleycat.
I’ve got so much work on I am having trouble thinking—and sleeping. Not sure which is worse. But at least I know for sure the project is worth it. I can enjoy having done it when it’s over. Right now? AAAAGGGGH!
