Baby heffalumps always amaze me. How can something that weighs, on average, at least 200 pounds, still seem so tiny?

It’s the theory of relativity. Put a thing next to a larger version of the thing for maximum cuteness. Put a big thing next to a huge thing, and the cuteness goes up exponentially.
Every time I get an email update from Sheldrick Trust, I want to move to Kenya and become an elephant keeper in their nursery.

It would never occur to me to measure fur depth with a wooden ruler, but now I’ve seen it done I might try it with bears.

Oh no Alice I don’t think measuring a bear’s fur with a wooden ruler is a safe pastime.

What if the bear is in your crawl space?

I love how that thing is the size of two huge men, can probably kill you with a swipe of his paw and everyone’s like:
Don’t you hurt him!!

I would be seriously concerned if I had a crawlspace so large a bear could fit in!😳

It’ll dovetail nicely with my bison selfie hobby.

You are on a poster in the National Park Service break-room.
And now I have the Bee Gees in my head.

I think I’d be fairly safe with this outrageously bogus insurance fraud bear!

I love those chinchillas so much. Would love to cuddle them and scritch those big ears.
Glad the bear was removed safely. I wonder if it dreamed about the fires.
Why are baby heffalumps eyes so red?
It doesn’t look like he can reach as far up as he needs to nurse?
He looks so small, but 200# is Not Small. Sweet baby💙

Baby heffalumps, sigh, be still my heart. They have got to be one of the cutest but gangliest babies out there. They always look like they’re trying figure out what all the appendages do.

My friend lives in Altadena (her house survived the fires, miraculously), and that bear has visited her house occasionally, requiring upgrades to the fencing, gates, and trash containers. Still, she and all of her neighbors were truly thrilled that *their bear* was safe after the fires.

I would so love a chinchilla coat.
One bit of an engineering issue though.
