Welcome to the Caturday open thread. You might want to watch your back, because today’s visitor looks like he could become dangerous — or already has. Either way, “Hamster is admitting to nothing,” says reader Tracy R.

Yeah, the news lately makes me feel stabby, too.
But the dogs were good! Even with an eye transplant?!
Oh, and speaking of transplants…
OMG I need this vet!
We’ve been trying out some new things to make all the cats happy. Lavender now gets more mom-time but the boys get a lot less, by their choice.
Blueberry pup has just stolen my soul.
I know they’re called murder mittens but I think Hamster is taking it a little too far. The We rate dogs video today was awesome! I’m glad that my dogs don’t wake me up like Axel at #8, wow talk about demanding. Wonder if she named him after Axl Rose the rock star? That would explain a lot. Dog #7 is thinking this is one weird long eared dog and why is he on me!? I want to kidnap that little nugget trying a blueberry. Looks like a stuffie not a real dog.
Getting back to possibly homicidal Hamster, it reminded me of a friend that got Val a stuffed chainsaw dog toy one Halloween. She too looked like mass murderer running through the house with it in her mouth. And that same friend also got her Thor’s hammer toy. I’m starting to wonder about if this friend is really a friend, lol.
Not much planned for this weekend. Puttered around the house this morning starting a load of wash, and brushing out the dogs. Breakfast and maybe some thrift store shopping or the museums. Didn’t get much done last weekend as I didn’t feel good on Sat so spent Sun relaxing and recuperating. Want to make up for it this weekend. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Amen Allein, Amen. sigh. Along the lines of our posts from yesterday, I told my millennial coworkers I needed a dandelion break. There was total silence and confused blinking. I actually started laughing. We took our lunch break and went up to the Center City (Philadelphia) Macy’s to listen to the noon organ concert. It helped immensely.
Today it is sunny and breezy so a good day to do laundry (I hang my clothes outside as often as possible). Sheets are hard to do inside – so today will be bedding and towels. They are long overdue. Right now I’m going to watch something dumb on Netflix, Derry Girls maybe, and knit a bit more on my sock. I picked a ridiculously difficult pattern to knit and I’m growing impatient to have it finished. I will also run errands today: post office for stamps, groceries, and to school to retrieve the water bottle I forgot there.
Hamster – don’t drink to much of that – it’ll get you into more trouble than it’s worth, or maybe it already did? ๐คฃ Everyone else – hoping you are well! Have a lovely weekend!
I thought of you after I saw the news last night (was it really just last night? I swear time has lost all meaning with everything going on lately) since I wasn’t sure what part of Philly you were in.
Hope you’re okay, Tara.
Allein and DebG thanks for checking. I’m in West Philly, but I know that section of North Philly well. There are a number of international grocery stores in that area and I have to drive passed that mall to get to them. Its so incredibly sad, especially on the heels of Wednesday’s crash, but it could have been so much worse. Ali Velshi said on Rachel Maddow last night that the pilot would have tried to find an open space to land. If that is what happened, the pilot is to be commended. I guess we’ll find out as they learn more.
Lurking
We went for breakfast with my husband’s cousin who was in town this week for business, he hadn’t seen him in 30 years.
He lives in Toronto Ontario and we live in Montreal Quรฉbec so that’s a 5:30 hour drive just to get there that’s the problem with living in a country as big as Canada you can’t just pop over anytime to say hello.
Other than that it was a very quiet week, we still have very cold weather so not temping to go out better to stay warm at home unless absolutely necessary.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Did Hamster drink first and then kill, or was it the other way around!? It’s an inspiring picture either way.
I’m about to get a haircut and run errands, then I’ll get back to warping the loom, reorganizing my home, and maybe make another batch of fudge. Last week’s fudge was a disaster because I wasn’t paying attention and put in twice the amount of butter. I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t losing its shine in the mixer. Duh, because it was mostly fat!
Hugs to you all. Take care of yourselves in these unsettling days.
Feeling stabby.
Not at you guys, of course. At Fate.
Lovely to see Hamster, and wishing you all well.
If you’ve got some time, here’s almost 40 minutes of God making dogs…
Holy Fluff – these are so funny.
I watched them all as soon as they come out, I love the one with John Wick.
AJโI know! LOVE the long-eared hopping โdogโ๐. And surprised as heck that the *real* dog allows it! What a great pair๐๐ผ And blueberry Duncan can come stay with me cos, SAME! Fudge better come up with a good thank you gift for her owner, and not a stick! And Rocco is the BEST dog! That looks like a pretty serious fire๐ณ
Taraโa dandelion break sounds like something we could all use!
Allein, I hate to ask, but what news, cos I missed it. ButโฆI donโt want to go looking for it๐ฃ
Not sure how much detail to share…but a small medical transport jet (Lear jet) crashed in northern Philadelphia last night. It was taking a young patient and her mother (along with two doctors and two pilots, I believe) home to Mexico (via Missouri which was the actual destination of this flight) after she received treatment at a children’s hospital in Philly. It crashed near a mall and several buildings/houses caught fire. There were no survivors from the jet but so far I haven’t seen if there were any serious injuries or deaths on the ground. They haven’t determined the cause yet, as far as I’ve seen, but it happened just after takeoff.
I was just listening to the mayor, one person on the ground also died and 19 people were injured.
And the young patient heading home to Mexico had been at Shriner’s hospital for four months. ๐ข
Wow. ๐ The video I saw just said her treatment was successful…and then this. I saw a couple videos of the crash (one from someone’s Ring camera where you can see the plane falling in the distance and then hear a loud boom, and one from I’m guessing a traffic camera where you just see a giant fireball up ahead) and they are terrifying.
“I heard the news today, oh boy…the feline army had just won the war”
Friends, I’m on the verge of taking legal action against a neighbour whose idea of “building a fence” on top of a shared garden wall consists of pulling mature ivy off MY fence – on my side! – and nailing pieces of wood directly to the back of it. He ignored my politely worded note asking him to remove the materials and tomorrow I fully expect him to cause more property damage, all of which will be caught on camera for me to show to a solicitor. Given my recent health problems I could have done without this nonsense, but after eight years of having good neighbours I suppose my luck has run out. ๐ฆ
I’m sorry for your neighbour problem I hope you can get him to stop and pay damages.
