Today’s Caturday visitor Skye looks harmless, but her human Georgiana Y. has a word of warning:
Skye looks so sweet when she sleeps, doesn’t she? She looks just like a little angel but don’t let that fool you, she can turn into a fur tornado raging through in one second flat.

You can almost see Skye’s battery recharging to Full Zoomies Mode level…
Friends, my bus pass arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the photo makes me look much less villainous than I expected, probably because it’s smaller than the voter ID abomination I used. I’m taking it for a test drive on Monday when I go to the hospital for a blood test.
What a sleeping beauty. I can’t believe she isn’t as sweet as she looks, lol.
Finally had my new bed delivered Wednesday, and discovered getting new furniture is great incentive to clean up all the dust bunnies residing under beds, in corners, etc. I couldn’t believe how bad it was, no wonder my allergies were giving me problems. And the bed is so comfortable, definitely helping out my achy back and legs.
Busy day ahead. First breakfast, then haircut, and finally book club meeting. This one is sponsored by our local art museum and we read/discuss books related to art. It’s very low commitment, only meets quarterly. The book we read for this time was on the Impressionist Camille Pissarro. Very fascinating person who lived an interesting life. And those artistic genes were strong in the family! There’s been artists in 5 generations of the family. The latest is Camille’s great great granddaughter, Lyora. Kinda Twilight Zone coincidence yesterday. I subscribe to an art newsletter email, and one of yesterday’s featured stories was on Lyora. Her artwork is so unique, check it out at lyorapissarro.com. Tomorrow is finishing cleaning the house, and errands. Happy weekend, and Happy Valentines Day everyone.
Hello everyone, Skye (and Storm) can be a hand full sometimes but I was glad to have them this week because it’s been a hard one.
First I learned that an old friend that I hadn’t heard of in a few weeks is in the hospital and her son told me that the doctors can’t do anything more for her and that she has at most a few months to live 😢
Second, I got a bill for $1 273,57 including interest from the CRA yesterday about my 2024 income tax that they “recalculated” a year later !🤬 And I have to pay it within a month or they’ll charge me more interest!
Well I hope your week was better than mine, happy Valentine’s Day to those who celebrate it and a good weekend to all.
I’m sorry about your friend. Glad you have your kitties to provide some comfort.
Oh gosh, what a week! Sorry for all your troubles. I’m also glad you have those beautiful kitties for comfort. ❤️
Happy Caturday! Skye looks comfy.
So I might need a new washer/dryer (well, washer, but I can’t replace them separately). The spin cycle the last few loads seems to be louder and causing much more vibration than normal. This is the type I have now (which is a Kenmore that’s 20 years old): GE Top Load or Frigidaire Top Load. (There’s also a front load option, LG Front Load, but I don’t know that I want a front load, given some of the issues people report with them (mold in the door gaskets and stuff), and as my mom pointed out it might not be great with my back issues.) Both of the top loaders say “Top Rated” on Home Depot’s website…but who is rating them (they have 4 and 3.7 stars, respectively)? 🤔 The reviews on the site are of course all over the place, ranging from “it’s great!” to “do not buy this thing!”…so I don’t know what to believe. But there aren’t a lot of options for the space I have. My dad suggested getting washing machine cleaner and running a couple cycles with that, maybe there’s some buildup causing it to be unbalanced…?
Anyway, doggies.
PS, I mused on the last Maine Coon kitten post about whether Insight Timer has any tracks with purring kitties…I looked last night and they do!
Then youtube just gave me this…
That sound is soooo soothing. Excuse me as I head back to bed. There always has to be that one, while everyone else is sleeping he just has to be exploring. Such a lil troublemaker, lol.
As for your washer, before spending money try cleaning it and also check to see if it’s level. Maybe the feet have loosened up and just need to be adjusted/tightened. For finding unbiased reviews on appliances, look at Consumer Reports. I can’t remember if they still make you pay for a subscription or if they have a free trial but they’ve been around for forever and my dad always consulted them before making any big purchase.
I wish I felt Consumer Reports was as reliable as it was even 20 years ago. I’ve found it disappointing more recently.
Regardless, your advice about cleaning and leveling is the same as I’d advise. And in fact I’m going to take the same advice this week, because my washer is also not spin-drying effectively at the moment. It goes through all the right motions, but it doesn’t seem to be achieving the right centrifugal force to “de-soakify” the laundry.
I agree with AJ – Consumer reports is the way to go. Alternately you could look for a repair person on the Better Business Bureau. I have a front loader (LG) the second one. The first broke after 10 years. This one probably will too. What I miss about the top loader is being able to soak things in the wash. Good luck with your search.
I’m a top-loader gal all the way. Twice I’ve been soaked through and had soaked laundry fall to the floor out of a front-loader that said it had finished its cycle, only to discover the hard way that it hadn’t. NOT pleasant.
Definitely dangerous! I loved the camera checks.
Similar advice from me re the washer dryer situation: check for level, and go for top load. Love my whirlpool HE washer; the dryer is fine but not overwhelming.
And I just got an email from Capital One saying my account is locked because of too many login attempts. I did not attempt to log in. So that’s fun. (And yes, it’s real; I went to the site via my bookmarked link and it is locked.)
My beloved appliance repair guy won’t go near LGs and Samsungs because he said they are difficult and expensive to repair and break a lot. LG makes great TVs and when they made smartphones, those were great, too, but large appliances not so much. I have heard this from various people. I have had both Frigidaire and GE appliances last forever, despite low ratings online. My GE washer was given a 2 star rating but it was the only one that fit in the space I had. 13 years and hundreds of loads of laundry later, it has never needed repair and is still going strong. Ditto for most of my Frigidaire stuff. Plus, front loaders may be more energy efficient, but you are right that they have issues with mold and such. Best of luck!
Good Morning All! Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m waiting (again) for the guy to come fix my front door. Today we’ve been texting so things sound more promising. My electrician is also going to come and fix the motion sensor light under my bedroom window which doesn’t click off anymore. I will also try to dig my car out of the snow. It’s been three weeks and it’s time. Plus it’s supposed to be “warm” today, in the 40s. I’ll wait until this afternoon.
I left work early last night, and stupidly tried to go to Trader Joe’s. It was packed with everyone buying flowers. The train was equally packed with Valentine flowers, gifts and balloons. It made me so happy to see so much love. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Happy Valentines to all.
Things are not good here, but I won’t bring down the mood with details.
Apparently we still have snow pending, even tho the weather network can’t make up its mind from one day to the next.
Hubby and I don’t do Valentines Day, but I did dye the eggs in his lunch red. I’m kinda wishing I hadn’t, because they look like body organs. Maybe I should have left the shells on.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Giggling at your description of hubby’s eggs. 😀
If you get snow I’m gonna need it to go away by Saturday, as I’m breaking my tradition of not going to Whitecaps soccer games in February (really, why are we having outdoor soccer in February??), because I’ll be missing a few of their games in April when I’m out of town.
Happy Caturday and Happy Valentine’s Day! Skye has the right idea…zzzzz…
We’re not even going to try going out to dinner tonight, just making a steak dinner at home. Later tonight there’s a band I want to photograph, but they don’t start until 9:30 so I don’t know if I’ll stay for the whole show, since it’s just over an hour away from our house.
Our new refrigerator was delivered yesterday and we like it so far, even though it’s a little smaller inside than the previous one. We have a “garage fridge” and a small chest freezer in the garage, so we have a lot of room for “overstock,” though.
Beautiful Skye! I bet she’s even pretty as a fur tornado.
Hugs to all of you dealing with things this week–we’re here for you. My kitties are sending their patented de-stress kitty purrs too.
I’m trying to move forward on some weaving projects, and things are not going quickly or smoothly. For instance, the fabric for my felted tote bag won’t felt! What’s up with that? Why do things always felt when I don’t want that, and refuse to do their job when I do want it?
For the crafters…🤭
That is fantastic.
