DO Play With Your Food

At the Smithsonian Zoo, food doesn’t just nourish the body, it stimulates the mind. Watch how this dedicated team creates meals that make eating fun.

Imagine having to make a whole zoo’s worth of different meals for vastly different eating styles…

Imagine getting to be the pastry chef for a panda.

I would love to do this job (I think). Definitely the creative parts of making the birthday cakes. Do they take turns? I hope so. This was a great video.
I used to be a member of the San Diego Wild Animal Park and loved spending a day there. I can’t remember what the number was but on one of the tours they talked about the food bill. It was something eye-poppingly astronomical. The Wild Animal Park is responsible for bringing back the California Condor. It’s one of my favorite conservation stories. It was down to three birds and they were extinct in the wild by 1987. Now they are back up to 500 birds. ❤️❤️❤️
