Such cuties! Good morning fellow Cutetropolians. This weekend, I feel may be a lost weekend. SoCal is in the midst of a brutal heatwave so the less I’m outside, the better. Doing shopping early today then who knows, as long as it involves air conditioning. I may attempt some painting this afternoon, I read a poem yesterday that inspired me with its imagery so I’m thinking of painting the scene on most of the canvas then write the poem on the rest. Tomorrow, hubby has a car show and I may go down briefly to check it out. Other than that I will probably be in the pool. Amazingly after only 6 short days (including a weekend) my new pool equipment is installed and after a few hiccups seems to be working fine. Yeah, it took a major chunk of change but it’s done, and since I’m out doing laps most days, so worth it.
Hope everyone has a nice cool fall weekend!
Hello everyone!
It’s a nice autumn weekend here it’s cool but sunny outside, I’m going to do a wash and put it outside to dry for probably the last time for a while.
My husband had an appointment with a specialist at the hospital yesterday and the doctor ordered a scan and an ultrasound and he’ll see another specialist when he has done them so in the mean we wait and hope for the best.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Happy Caturday, everyone! I wandered into PetSmart while I was out and about a few days ago and all the adoptable kitties were black and white like the one on the left (well, one was dark gray and white, but close enough). They only had six or seven and a couple of the kennels were empty. One pair of 3-month-old babies wanted to be adopted together, another pair, a little older, could take it or leave it as long as there would be another cat in the household.
Thursday was my birthday (51!), and my dad texted in the morning asking if I wanted to get lunch, because my mom had an appointment. I assumed doctor but he said it was something at the church. So he picked me up and when I got home there was a birthday balloon taped to my door, with a “surprise” banner above it and some crepe paper streamers tied to the doorknob. So obviously she made a little detour (assuming she really was at the church at all…). (If the balloon lasts the next two weeks, I will find a way to sneak it back to their house for her birthday on the 14th.) I left them up for the rest of the day but took them down before I went to bed because I didn’t want to leave the paper stuff out there since it was really humid and gross. My birthday was too warm for October (high in the low 80s, though it was mid-70s when I went out) but not terrible, but yesterday was a lot warmer, in the upper 80s. I hate when my birthday doesn’t feel fallish, which is unfortunately becoming more and more common. I want to wear a cozy sweater on my birthday! We’re doing dinner at my parents’ house tonight; my mom asked me a couple weeks ago what I wanted to do, and I said I was thinking about either roast chicken (which my mom would make) or spaghetti (with my dad’s homemade sauce). I told them to decide which and surprise me, so I won’t know what we’re having until I get there.
They’ve been resurfacing the asphalt in my complex since last week; they did my street Thursday, so I moved my car around the corner on Wednesday night. They did everything but repaint the parking spot numbers, then in the afternoon we got a message saying they were cancelling Friday’s work because of the weather forecast (rain, but not until the evening). They’ve had to shift the schedule three times for weather (so far, but they should be almost done). I was starting to worry that meant they were going to leave our section closed off all weekend, but they finally came in the afternoon to finish painting. (I noticed in the morning that they had marked all the numbers with chalk, which seems pointless if they weren’t going to finish before it rained). After some drying time they finally took down all the cones and tape, but I haven’t moved my car back. I figured I have to go out today so there was no point in going outside just to move it when it’s fine in the spot it’s currently in (there are several at the end of the row on that street that don’t belong to anyone). Heck, I didn’t even go out to check the mail.
The dogs were good again. I love Two-Mommy Tommy… one of his follow-up facebook posts came across my feed earlier in the week and I had to go looking for the original. I don’t know why I was surprised to see he was included. They are hilarious (though, fair warning if you go look for them, the rescue employs liberal use of the F word on behalf of their doggos…a lot of their posts are actually written “by” the dogs). And now I of course am getting more from them and I am not complaining. Another dog I’ve been getting a lot of is a Rottweiler named Goomba, who is adorable but not adoptable because he is too aggressive (they suspect a combination of poor breeding and someone getting a puppy who had no business owning a Rottweiler), so he is a sanctuary dog with only a few people from the rescue who can safely go into his space. The rescue is STAB, which stands for Save the Aggressive Breeds, in North Carolina, so mostly pitties and similar dogs, though I did see one adoption post while scrolling their page that featured a Chihuahua.

The STAB posts have been showing up on my Facebook, too, and they’re awesome. ๐
And every chihuahua I’ve known has been aggressive, LOL!
I was just surprised to see a small dog…but then I thought, yeah, that makes sense…
Pablo wasn’t aggressive (actually, he would growl if a strange dog got too close, but that was it and it rarely happened). But he was special.
Happy birthday, Allein!
Many happy returns on another successful turn around the sun!
Tina is me, I am Tina, at least twice this week. Thank god there’s caffeine to get us un-discombobulated.
๐ถ Do you remember? All the good dogs of September? ๐ถ

(Not sure why videos aren’t embedding like normal…did something change?)
Happy belated birthday, Allein!
I got my Covid vaccine yesterday morning, so today I’ll be babying my arm. Hoping the fatigue part of the side effects is over, since we have some things to do today. Hubby and I are going to a car show in town, then to the fairgrounds to pick up my photos (and ribbons!), then out to lunch.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Happy Caturday, everyone! And WOWOWWWWOOOOWW it feels good to say that again. I was lost all last weekend with no Cutetropolis. Missed you all so much, because you’re like these lovely supportive kitties hosting us today.
Sounds like everybody is movin’ and groovin’ this weekend. Allein, a belated happy birthday–how did I miss it?
I’m now out of the splint! The smaller one after surgery was great, but the wrist brace is even better. Stitches come out next Thursday, then I can fully wash the iodine off my right arm. I look like an Oompaloompa. Occupational therapist is a hand expert, and she agrees that I can knit, spin, and weave: it’s great for my finger dexterity and will help restore mobility to the wrist. I can even start driving again: I’ll start small this weekend before I make the 38-mile trip down to work on Tuesday.
Hugs to you all. It’s so great to have our circle back together.
I went for a walk in my local park this afternoon and a total stranger complimented me on my DIY haircut. Oddly enough, now that I’ve chopped most of the brown off and left the silver I actually look younger. Thanks, YouTube tutorial!
Details of next year’s RSC Stratford season have been released, and I’ve decided to book for “Coriolanus”, “Richard II”, a dramatization of Virginia Woolf’s “Mrs Dalloway” and a return visit of “Born With Teeth”, a modern slant on the relationship between Shakespeare and Marlowe. Because the old repertory system has been abandoned this will involve two trips (two nights each), but my favoured B&B is very reasonably priced. The “breakfast” part of “bed and breakfast” seems to be dying out now – when it’s offered at all it’s usually an overpriced extra.
Only four days to go until my Bayeux Tapestry Exhibition trip! Something I wasn’t clear about until recently is how long you get to feast your eyes. The answer is forty minutes, which given the logistics involved sounds reasonable, and rumour has it that anyone who loiters too long in one place is politely but firmly moved along by an employee.
I have a fair amount of gray coming in at the front of my head, but it still kinda looks like it’s just highlighted if you don’t look too closely. I put my hair up in a high bun the other day so it was visible as I looked straight at the mirror, and I really got a look at the big contrast between the brown lower down and the lighter top. Still not sure how I feel about that…
For six years or so I’ve worn my hair in either a high bun or a messy bun fluffed up with a scrunchie. The difference in colour between the top and the bottom is what made me throw caution to the winds and reach for the scissors. I may go back to this when all the brown has grown out, but for the time being a short style is a pleasant change!
A belated good morning. So grateful weโre all back together on the weekend.
Had a mammogram this morning. Thatโs all Iโm going to say about that.
The wild birds outside have started shaking me down for birdseed. They sit on my railing and make adorable chirpy sounds, and I canโt resist. Yes, I bought seed for them.
Iโm laughing at all the hair comments. I get mine cut to chin length every three months, and the hairdresser always has much to say about my different natural colours. Blond, silver, red, chestnut, and this time around, I had a black streak. She pretended to be angry with me because my hair colours cost nothing. My left side was all blonde underneath, and I looked quite good as a temporary blonde!
Weather outside is perfect for fall: warmish days and very cool nights.
Have a great weekend, everyone. Stay safe.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone!
