I was just looking for some new workout gear to get my arms in shape – these would be perfect! I love the matching poses, and so gorgeous as usual.
One day and counting until my vacation!!!!! Still got a lot to do. Haircut today along with finishing up laundry. Last night I finally stopped futzing over what tops to bring but need to finish packing and organizing. This will probably be my last post for a while.
Hate to bring everyone down, especially on Caturday, but there’s a serious rescue going on right now with my humane society. And with the shelter already over capacity, any and all help – financial, telling friends, etc – would be appreciated. I just can’t believe the scope of the operation. When I get back, I’ll find a way to help out, probably with fostering. My heart breaks for the animals but hopefully they’re on their way to a better situation. https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/san-diego-humane-society-mass-animal-rescue-julian/509-eca90ceb-0d52-4fb9-91f0-7144ef395b7f?tbref=hp

What a terrible situation for those animals! Keeping them – and all the good people helping them – in my thoughts.
Have a lovely vacation.

Thanks for sharing the story about your humane society.
And have a terrific vacation!

Happy Caturday! If my weights were this cute maybe I’d use them more often.
AJ – 😲 That’s a lot of animals and I’m a little confused about what exactly was going on at this “sanctuary”…
Not a lot going on. Have to work this weekend. Today is the last day of our fiscal year, and yesterday we had auditors doing location counts in the warehouse. I was pleasantly surprised we were able to leave at 5:30…last year we were there until 10pm! Thankfully things were in better shape this time and I was able to explain any discrepancies between the quantities in the location listing I gave them in the morning and what they actually counted when they got out there (mostly they had just picked some units for orders earlier in the day…unfortunately closing the warehouse for the day so nothing moves around is not an option).
The dogs were good (more rescue in here!)
Also, this creaky baby.
AJMay 2, 2026 / 9:45 am
I think with the “sanctuary” here, like many others, the need to help animals gets quickly overwhelmed by the practicalities of running one and for some reason they don’t like asking for help. Oh my gosh, the creaky void!!!! I’m in love 😍😍😍🥰🥰 Reminds me of the void that I used to have when he was a baby. I’m very glad to see the rescue of all those beagles. With advances in computer modeling, and even AI, I feel there’s absolutely no reason to test on animals anymore.

The giant dog taking his pills with whip cream is such a good trick!
N. FritzMay 2, 2026 / 9:41 am
Entering the most stressful time of the year… I’ve had 3 semester tests within 9 days, and another one coming up on Wednesday. Then on Thursday my graduating seniors take their 5+ hour leaving exam in English. I have to grade them within 8 days. EIGHT DAYS! Once everything is graded, we count down to their oral exams in June. Thank heavens I’ve had a long weekend (May Day, Saturday, Sunday) to mentally prepare for the challenges ahead. If it weren’t for my bf and various events to look forward to (theater, concerts, etc), I don’t know what I would do!
DebgMay 2, 2026 / 10:42 am
Hang in there, N. Fritz. You’ll make it.
Duckie 🐥May 2, 2026 / 12:07 pm
Idea: send me pics of the exam pages, and I’ll grade them for you.

And people think teachers have it easy. Ha! Good luck to you, and to your students as well.

The lamb sextuplet story from earlier in the week made it to Seth Meyers’ show. He said, “A sheep in Vermont recently gave birth to a batch of six lambs, well, there may have been more but the doctor fell asleep.” (Then he roasted the writers a bit about how the week has been so bad they’ve resorted to sheep-counting jokes, and the idea that there would be a doctor there.) From about 2:19 – 3:21 here. (Linking instead of directly posting the video because a certain person’s face I don’t want to see here will probably be in the thumbnail.)
GeorgianaMay 2, 2026 / 10:41 am
Thank you I can’t stand seeing that face!

This is totally off topic, but much as I loved the kitten short, that AI “transcription” drove me nuts. I have often had to transcribe spoken text as part of my work, and that nonsense isn’t even close.
Kitten is adorable, though. Glad s/he found a loving, safe home.

Sowmya, I think you should make some exercise videos with these gorgeous floofs.
Off to haircut in a few minutes, then errands and brunch at my favorite brunch place. It’s a nice quiet weekend, which I need after a busy week. My boss and most of the Sales staff are off to a fiber industry convention next week, so everyone has been rushing to get things done. Then we’ll have no adult supervision while people are away.
I’m still grappling with too many crafting possibilities! My big loom is finally warped, but I also want to do some tablet weaving this weekend. There’s just not enough time for it all.
Hugs to everyone.

Hello All,
My void officially/unofficially turned 20 yesterday. I adopted him in September 2006 when it was believed he was about five months old. So I gave him an arbitrary birthday of May 1st. He’s still in charge of everything, eating a lot, sleeping with me and loves morning snuggles. I have nothing to complain about.
It will be a knitting weekend. I have grading to do too – though not as greuling as what N. Fritz seems to be responsible for! Still, my mantra for teaching is – “I teach for free. They pay me to grade.”
Happy weekend all!
Tara

I need all the cute I can get today, I’m feeling extremely tired after getting the first dose of the Zona vaccine yesterday which is one of the side effect it seems.

Indeed. So many hero dogs in April.
Ricky & Bibi's MomMay 2, 2026 / 1:57 pm
Zona? Is that what we call shingles in the US? Sorry it knocked you out, but that’s a LOT better than getting shingles.
Duckie 🐥May 2, 2026 / 11:58 am
Apologies to all. I am in an absolutely vile mood today and desperately need some cute.
Georgiana, I got shot on Thursday, and am positive that it might be partially responsible for how I feel today. Yesterday was just as bad.
Hubby is to blame for the rest.
Apparently colouring all the images on a iPad colouring page the same grey sets off some sort of alert. I have been banned from using that app now for inappropriate conduct. It seems the colour grey is equal to too much use of adult content sites (WHAT? I have NEVER used those sites!) and therefore I can’t colour anymore. 🙄
Off to spend the day cleaning up after the child I married.
Hope everyone has a better day than I’m having.

Duckie, I hope you mean you got THE shot, not just shot. Because getting shot is alarming, to say the least, and would affect me with more than just a vile mood.
Duckie 🐥May 2, 2026 / 3:58 pm
Yes, the shot.
Alice ShortcakeMay 2, 2026 / 3:08 pm
Regular readers may know that for months I’ve been puzzled by the design of a newly-built house at the end of Shortcake Street, which has no windows on the ground floor (at least not on the street side). Well, it’s now on the market as a “pied-a-terre” and has one double bedroom/bathroom upstairs and an open plan kitchen/living room/dining room plus bathroom on the ground floor. The room is lit by a large skylight and French windows opening onto a small courtyard. Other than a hideous air conditioning unit next to the bedroom window it looks rather nice, although at £250,000 it’s slightly more expensive than the old two-bedroom terraced on the street. It’s certainly an improvement on the weed-choked waste land and tumbledown shed that used to be there!
DebgMay 2, 2026 / 3:38 pm
