It’s Setsubun, the Japanese holiday in which the ogres get chased out to welcome the arrival of spring. Maybe that’s why Hana and Kitten Miri aren’t too eager to wear the ogre wig. Maru, on the other hand…

More Maru! For today’s Caturday open thread, reader Tara O. is back with a follow-up on the mysterious Universal Cat Distribution System:
Since my email from December 8th, explaining my first delivery from the UCS, the grey kitty has returned. I’ve been calling him Smokey, and this past weekend he has finally decided he can trust me. This is the best photo I could take of him because he moves so much. In addition to the fabulous toe beans, please note the lovely ear tufties.

Despite his dour expression, Maru is a very happy cat, which becomes clear when he purrs.
Of course, happy cats don’t just happen, they require the best of everything. Today Maru, Hana and Kitten Miri get a fluffy floor mattress to play on.
Looks cozy, Andrew Y.
More Maru! It’s Caturday, which can only mean one thing: Somewhere, someone is being judged by a cat. Today it’s reader Georgiana Y., who writes “I have a feeling I’m not up to Minnie’s standards sometime.”

Fortunately, judgmentalism can be very tiring, and soon Minnie requires a nap.
