Our Natural World of Nature

Visit many national forests and you may see a fascinating exhibit: a cross section of a tree trunk, showing the tree rings, one for every season the tree had been alive. These rings are a window into natural history, in some cases before the dawn of civilization itself. By examining the center of this tree, for example, we can tell it dates back to the late kittysnoozic period.

I almost missed the little black one on the outside. Is that like a lichen or something? Or a licken?

I wonder what kind of tree it was.
Not a Katsura or Pussy Willow as those are both multi-trunked shrubs

I cat just picture the thought process for both pictures.

      (Once atop said pedestal)
An enclosure. I must be in the enclosure.”

It’s like Maru and boxes. If a box isn’t available, a cat will locate the nearest available enclosed space.
