Welcome to the weekend! Today we have a cute cat plus a bonus bird. First, reader Georgiana Y. shares the perfect example of how fast kittens can grow:
Skye is definitely not a little kitten anymore. She’s only 10 months old and she already doesn’t fit in the box of Fancy Feast. She’s going to be a BIG kitty!
But wait, there’s more! Reader Duckie shares her bird Duckie, cheerfully chirping away.
Skye definitely looks nonplussed by developments. I LOVED seeing and hearing Lil’ Duckie.
Skye is a beauty, love her markings but yeah, she’s gonna be on the larger side. Just means more to snuggle with and keep you warm. Awww, Lil Duckie is so sweet. I used to have a budgie with similar markings called Athena.
Talking about being nonplussed, just had a very odd occurrence while taking the dogs out for their early am bathroom break. Remember it’s 5:30ish am and still dark. As I’m standing at the bottom of the steps, a car pulls up, the driver gets out, starts walking to my property then just walks around the car, gets back in and drives off. WTH??? All I can think of is he saw the porch light on with the screen door partially opened, was going to do something (like get in the house??) then realized I was standing there with the dogs so he took off. And weirdly enough the dogs didn’t start barking until he got back in the car. Ummm thanks guys? Could have used your barking a few minutes ago.
Hopefully the day gets better. Not much planned, just errands and some cleaning. Did have an exciting week. Finally got a bee expert out to relocate the bees from under my shed. And the hive was huge – approx 100,000 bees 😱. The bees are now gone to a more suitable habitat out in the country. As a bonus I did get some lovely raw honey which I’ve been using all week. Plus landscapers have started clearing out the jungle that my yard became after all the rain. Happy weekend everyone!
AJ! What a lovely story about the honey and the relocation of the bees. Sweet! (🤭)
That’s my Skye! She is bigger and heavier than both my other cats I wouldn’t call Skye fat exactly but she weighs almost 10 pounds or 4.5kg, she doesn’t eat that much but it’s probably the wrong food for her.
The problem is because of her illness and because she is very fussy I have to feed Minnie my 16 year old several small meals of wet food during the day and I can’t just feed one cat and not the others because they’ll push her out of her bowl.
And no, I can’t just put Minnie in another room with her bowl, I tried she won’t eat she stays by the door and cries and if she doesn’t eat she can’t have her medicine and if she does have her medicine she’ll get sicker and … anyway thankfully Skye gets lots of exercise, she loves to run and play/fight with Storm and hunt her toys all over the house so for now I’ll have to be satisfied with that.
Have a good weekend all.
Duckie with the 80s vibes!
Skye is lovely.
Off to the eye doctor; then dinner later for my brother’s birthday which was Wednesday. Beware the Ides of March, indeed.
Finally – a guest appearance by the legendary Duckie! And Skye, I feel your pain…I can remember being a size 12.
The Spare Carpet Saga is turning into a Monty Python sketch. I found the form on the company’s Customer Service website I had to fill in to arrange a collection, but it was misinterpreted to mean that I wanted a delivery. Two days later a van turned up with a duplicate of the flooring that had already been fitted! The driver was apologetic but couldn’t collect the unwanted carpet. Furious, I tried the website again…and got an email thanking me for my order, which would be delivered the next day. By this time I was beside myself. The office was closed but I managed to leave a message, and the next day I received a text explaining the computer glitch and assuring me that the carpet would be collected between 2 and 4 that afternoon. Nobody came, because – wait for it – THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN! Collection day, barring a meteorite strike or Russian invasion, is now the 22nd.
In other news, by the end of next week I’ll have a new bathroom suite and tiles in the porch and kitchen. I can’t wait for the day when all the work is finished!
Sorry for your carpet troubles but just imagining it gave me a fit of giggles. Talk about a comedy of errors, reminds me of a Monty Python or Benny Hill sketch. Hope all goes well and the carpet is outta there soon. Hang in there with all the reno’s. I’m going around this afternoon and making a list of all the projects I want done and start taking measurements. When one has a house, I’m finding the list is never ending.
I forgot to mention that until last Thursday my back yard was FULL of huge cardboard boxes. Friday was recycling day, so the night before I planned to haul them through the (head-high) gate and onto the kerb for collection. Alas, the wooden gate was firmly swollen shut due to recent heavy rain so I had to lob the cardboard over the gate (audibly grunting with effort) and walk round the corner to retrieve it. I’ve had more exercise in the past three months than in the previous five years!
Every time I see Skye, I’m struck by her gorgeousness. Georgiana, feeding cats separately or with separate foods is always a hassle–when Sevi had to have soft food for two weeks, everybody had to have soft food!
Lil Duckie, she’s the one. She makes every time lots of fun.
Off to get my hair cut and get groceries, then I’ll see if I can rearrange the garage. I have to move a console table down there so there’s room for my new loom in a few weeks. Tomorrow, I’ll rearrange the pullouts I just installed–one is too narrow and so a wider one arrives today. Wish me luck!
Happy Caturday, everyone.
My beebles is singing in Cutetropolis!
Sorry for the vertical video. Still getting used to the new iPad.
Skye is such a beautiful cat. I love her markings.
Still dealing with this cold. It’s a particularly nasty one, and I feel worse now than I did with Covid.
Happy weekend everyone! Skye is absolutely gorgeous! That coloring is so pretty. And sweet Duckie, proudly chirping away there. Sorry you are struggling with a cold Duckie – hope you recover soon.
