Is that… DUCKIE?!?!?!?
Little Duckie!!!!! 💗
Wish I was as content as that kitty. Woke up with a headache; hoping the drugs kick in soon.
So I’m challenging myself this month to walk an hour every day. Started Sunday, and got caught in the rain, but it was almost 60F so I didn’t mind too much (but the wind picked up a lot about the time I finished so if I had gone much longer the umbrella I grabbed when I passed by my car would have been useless). Ever since then it’s been freezing (20s-30s but with a feels-like temp around 15), so one day I went to the gym after work and walked on the treadmill and the other days I walked back and forth between my living room and bedroom and marched in place and stepped side to side and whatever just to move for an hour (not exactly walking but the best I could do without losing my fingers and toes). I had a half day yesterday because I had a doctor’s appointment at 2:00 so I just took the afternoon off. After the doctor I went to the mall, put on an hour-long podcast (PBS Eons: Surviving Deep Time, “Could You Survive the Messinian Salinity Crisis,” if you’re wondering), and just walked from one end to the other, went upstairs, walked back, went back downstairs, etc. At one point when I was passing Starbucks for the third or fourth time, I saw a tiny black pug puppy (pugpy?) who had just had a pup cup and still had whipped cream on her face. Good thing she was on a leash because I wanted to scoop her up and run.
The cake-eating possum made it to The Late Show! Meanwhile… (Warning: there is a not-so-family-friendly story later in the video.)
The dogs were good again, of course.
RIP Hurricane ❤.
I would risk Ivy’s wrath. Love the “Will Bite” sign that’s barely off the ground.
Bonus: Matt’s Top 10 Talking Dogs (uh…you might want to turn your volume down.)
See, now, #9. Mimosa, I’m hearing her say, “alright!” Good Girl.
Three huskies – hoo boy.
Bravo to you for your walking resolution Allein! Also hope your headache goes away.
Thanks; it’s a little better… Also it’s supposed to be around 40 this afternoon so hopefully I can get outside.
If you’ve got space in your home, try some of Jessica Smith’s walking workouts. She’s got free ones on YouTube and DVDs elsewhere. They’re lots of fun, as exercise goes. Her workouts helped me lose 12 pounds during lockdown. I’ve got a huge collection of her DVDs now, not just walking ones but stretching and strength training too, so that I can pick and choose my daily workouts.
I looked her up; looks doable. Thanks 🙂
There’s also a channel called Grow with Jo that I like. She does a lot of no-equipment, no jumping workouts (I don’t like jumping and also I have a downstairs neighbor). I also have a step and a yoga mat. I wish I could get a small treadmill but I have no non-carpeted place to put it (I looked at a few online and they say to put it on a solid floor surface because carpet can block ventilation and make them overheat).
I like going outside because I can set a timer for half the time, walk out of my neighborhood in one direction (so I can’t decide to quit when I pass by my building again if I’m doing laps), and then turn around when it goes off and head back. Also I need more fresh air and sunshine. Just not when it’s 20 degrees, please.
There’s a big empty field next to my complex that is owned by the township, and they are planning to turn it into some kind of athletic complex with soccer fields and tennis courts and stuff. Traffic-wise it sounds like a nightmare, since it looks like the only planned way in and out will be the side road that runs between my complex and that field. But the whole thing is apparently going to be ringed by a walking path, so that would be nice to be able to use instead of walking on the street. Though I have no idea when they plan to start building it, so it’ll probably be years before it’s an option.
So much cuteness! I love the coloring on both. I used to have a parakeet with similar coloring named Athena.
Lots going on this weekend. Breakfast with a friend and then a painting class at the library. At some point need to do grocery shopping today as hubby leaves tomorrow morning for a work trip. So it’s just me and the dogs for a week. I’m off to the museums tomorrow. I’m thinking either the Science Center or modern art museum. I’ll see what exhibits call to me. Also need to do some baking. I have a recipe for linzer torte bars thats so yummy. There’s a jar of black cherry jam that would be perfect for the filling. Enjoy the weekend!
What a beautiful Chartreux kitten and it’s nice to see little Duckie! Also pining for the fjords will never not make me laugh.
Well we are still buried under mounds of snow here, I can’t blame the city for not yet clearing all the streets since we haven’t had this much snow in a week since 1941, we got 74 cm/29 inches of snow!
It took until Thursday afternoon for my husband to finally managed to shovel enough of the big snow bank in front of our driveway for us to get the car out and finally be able to get to the store, it was getting urgent because we were running out of milk and I’m not civilized until I get my cup of coffee in the morning LOL!
I hope everyone is safe and warm and has a good weekend.
29 in of snow?!! Where do you live?
In the province of Québec, easter Canada.
Phew – 29 inches is a bit much! I hope that’s the last of it for you.
Probably not but I hope it’s the last BIG one.
Glad you reported in! I was wondering how you were coping with all the snow!
Thanks we’re all right now.
No, you cannot spent $2100 on a pair of shoes you would never wear…
They’re called Meow!
https://kobilevidesign.com/product/meow/
(There’s also a black version without the strap called Panther, and elephants! They have a lot of funky shoes…some pretty neat, some just kinda weird…the Matryoshka flats are cute and the only ones I could actually wear without breaking an ankle.)
“‘Everyone to his own taste,’ the old woman said when she kissed her cow.”
I agree, the Matryoshkas are the only ones that look wearable. They’re also the only ones I wouldn’t mind being seen in, though I can’t say they’re really “me.”
Yeah, I don’t know that I would wear them, but I could.
I can’t even remember the last time I wore heels, and I’ve never worn any more than maybe 2 inches high.
I like the Matryoshka but I also like the Mr Orca.
Oh, I missed those; they look wearable, too.
They make some awfully funky-themed shoes. Shoes that only someone rich could afford!
oooooo! funky shoes!!!! my favorite. I would risk my knees for these! So many fun shoes there. The sharks?
I wonder if the Harp Twins would like the harp shoes?
In one of their videos they wore shoes with no heel, like the melting sneaker, Girl Scout and Stewardess shoes. They don’t look safe for walking in. I suppose that in heels your weight is on the ball of the foot anyway, but you could press down on the heel if necessary. Not in shoes that don’t have a heel support point.
Interesting designs. I could never wear anything like those today, but back when I was young and fit, I did wear stilettos with 3-inch heels, and walked everywhere in them. Certainly could not do that today.
Great to see Little Duckie! And that lovely satisfied-looking kitty-cat.
Gray kitty is beautiful! If I had a cat, that’s what I’d want it to look like.💙
And that parakeet looks totally exhausted, and she did a pretty good job decimating that rope! Quit a determined little birb👍🏼
Hi All,
Sweet kitty, and what a contented smile. Hello little Duckie! Great job you did there on the rope. You are such a gorgeous shade of aqua you pretty bird, you. 🥰
Yesterday, coworker and I drove from Philadelphia to State College (about a 3.5hour drive) to visit a dear friend and colleague’s lab. My President and CEO recently landed a hefty sum of money to upgrade our space and so we’ve been tasked to visit other labs to get ideas. It was wonderful to see him and his incredible space. We got lots of ideas and information. The drive was gorgeous too! I’ve never been there, and as the elevation went up it started snowing. Not bad, and it didn’t stick to the road, but the entire country side was white. It was beautiful. The drive home even more so, it was evening and we were heading east, so we had these gorgeous colors in the sky on the puffy clouds, very Maxfield Parrish. It was a good day.
This weekend I need to run errands and do other life things, including work on teaching stuff. If anyone is interested, I worked on my mittens last weekend. You can see the first cuff here:
https://www.ravelry.com/projects/taralein/graph-3—district-of-vecgulbene
I have a terrible feeling it is too big, even on size 0 needles, so I’ve started a second cuff on even smaller needles. I think they are 000 (massive eyeball roll). We’ll see if it makes a difference.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Those mittens look gorgeous! If you’re not using a superwash yarn, you could always try to shrink them a little bit when they’re finished. Or can you reduce the number of stitches in the cuffs, then increase to get the right number for the patterning?
My mittens always turn out to be too big for my hands.
Thanks! And weeeeelll? I had every intention of buying only superwash so I could throw them in the wash with everything else. Womp womp – didn’t realize (or check) that the misti alpaca (the chartreuse) is hand wash only. But it is the perfect color! So its a combo and I’m going to have to hand wash them anyway. The cuff is already 6 stitches smaller than the mitt. I could have eliminated one of the black stitches between the rose buds, but I think it will look crowded. So I’m trying plan B. No idea what will work.
That is an incredibly fussy pattern! Beautiful, but I don’t know if I’d be doing it in 3 colors. Not skilled enough
(in crochet, mind). I hope these are for you, since they are so much trouble.☺️
My mom was a quilter and I remember her doing a wall hanging for her sister that was complicated. She called it the “Bless-ed Angel” because of how much trouble it was. My mom never cussed, so this was extreme for her!
Yep! But I kind of enjoy a fussy pattern. The challenge keeps me interested. And yes, these are for me. 🙂 Not sure I’ll get to wear them this year, but that’s okay. Maybe I’ll rename them my Bless-ed Angel mitts. Love that.
Happy Caturday, everyone! I love sleepy grey kittens. And Duckie! Such a gorgeous birb.
I’m heading out in a few minutes for a yarn adventure. A yarn shop about 15 miles away has a presentation on choosing colors that flatter. I never had my colors done in the 80s when that was a thing, but I’ve got a pretty good sense of what looks good on me. And hopefully the presenter will give me some new ideas so my closet isn’t just teal sweater after teal sweater. Treating myself to breakfast at a restaurant while eggs are still available!
The rest of the weekend involves trying out different furniture setups in my great room, then hopefully warping the loom. I may make another video or two to show the process.
Hugs to you all.
I did my colors in the 80s. Mine is cool summer. My sister’s and mom’s were warm spring, which explains why every clothes she ever bought me was the wrong color and looked horrid on me! I still have the page with my colors folded up in a drawer for reference😆
The price of eggs is horrible! Can’t believe how they are twice as expensive! Eggland used to be $3.90 and now they are $6.30. I’ve had to start getting the store brand which are now $5.50! 18 count store brand are $9.50, which is what I used to get, but not any more!
It’s the weekend! With a gorgeous grey kitten!
And it’s my baby beebles, Duckie!
Chilly grey wet day outside, but I have lots to do inside. Several family projects to finish; one especially because my niece’s baby has dropped and false labour has happened a few times. I will be joining the Cutetropolis walking club next week, as soon as my knee recovers from an almost fall on the stairs yesterday, apparently due to an earthquake. I plan to walk our building’s long hallway as much as I can.
Off to wreak havoc on society. Trying to figure out a way to smuggle eggs to those in the states.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.
Yes! Smuggle eggs!🥚🥚🥚
