So don’t step on any overly-furry throw rugs. Got it.
Graduation party for my friend’s daughter (8th grade) and nephew (high school) today. Predicted high of 81 and not super-humid so it should be reasonably comfortable in the back yard. Tomorrow Father’s Day for which my dad said “keep it simple; pizza is fine.” So I guess that’s what we’re doing.
The dogs were good again. (Content warning for #1; it will make you sad and angry.)
So many good dogs this week! Pupper eating watermelon is oh so polite. Most dogs act like little dinos or piranhas so you gotta watch your fingers. Hoot and holler dogs just invented a new sport – synchronized barking, lol. Aww poor Penny. I would have waded out and broke off the branch for her.
Thanks for the warning about #1. Infuriating. It even made the New York Times.
Oh Jameson. Sweet boi.
I think most of us would love to have someone grate italian cheese into our open mouths.
Poor Jamison, that was more of a boisterous approach than a deadly one so I hope that they LAPD take this seriously.
This.
two words of advice:
water gun
Those are not cats, they are sentient rugs. I just want to snorgle those bellehs but I know it’s probably a trap, lol.
I had an eye dr appt yesterday and practice has two Brussel Griffon doggos in residence. Squeee!!!! They belong to the dr and their names are Bowie and Slater. Oh, they are so cute and yes I got thoroughly inspected.
Not much going on this weekend, I may head up to the museums today. Tomorrow will be errands, and thrift store wandering. At some point, I should clean a little but I’ll see how motivated I get, lol. Enjoy the weekend all!
I had no idea you could get fluffy throw rugs in such small sizes…
I’ve just returned from my two-night stay in Stratford-upon-Avon to see “The Tempest” with Kenneth Branagh as Prospero. It was one of the best productions of the play I’ve seen and featured some interesting (if not altogether convincing) directorial touches.
I experienced some non-Shakespearean drama at the slightly scruffy old pub I stayed at (for the third and probably last time). The window latch in my room was in a poor state last December and has since broken completely, leaving me with the problem of propping the window open with something heavy during a spell of hot weather. The solution: an iron I found in the wardrobe! It worked like a charm until the second day, when my afternoon nap was rudely interrupted by an almighty clattering noise. A gust of wind had blown the window open and sent the iron tumbling down the roof, where it came to rest just above the gutter! 😀 I explained the situation at the bar and an employee managed to retrieve the iron quite easily. This incident may well become part of the pub’s folklore and be told for years.
Another unusual happening: back in 1976, when I was still at school, I persuaded my parents to take me to Stratford for a week’s holiday (I also saw “The Winter’s Tale” with Ian McKellen as Leontes). We stayed on the ground floor of a new block of flats, and all I really remember about it was that it was near some old streets and a bridge. Well, on Friday I decided to go for a walk in a part of Stratford I thought I’d never visited before…and by chance I found the building where I stayed fifty years ago!
Sounds lovely, Alice! And imagine getting to be part of pub lore!
That sounds amazing.
I remember seeing Richard II with Jeremy Irons back in the day. My parents were like, “Jeremy who?”
I saw that production too!
I’m really not sure I could resist disturbing those fluffy carpets with belly rubs!
As usual things are pretty quiet around here, we did have a cousin’s breakfast yesterday, we try to do this about once every 2 or 3 months, it was fun catching up with everyone.
Well that’s it for me, have a good weekend all.
Good Morning,
Such beautiful floofy kitties! It looks like they are living a very good life. I would like to reach in and give gentle loving belly skritches.
Had yesterday off so Butch and Swee’Pea had their turn at the vet. Rabies shots. Neither was very happy, and of course when we returned from the vet, Jacques was very hissy because of how they smelled.
Had a friend over last night to help me grill the oodles of zucchini from the farm share. It was so pleasant last night and we got to see the first fireflies of the season.
Going out shortly to work on my shed some more. I’m overdue at the tool library with the chopsaw (tisk tisk) so I’ve got to get that part done today and return it before 3pm.
I have a recommendation for folks who need a pick-me-up, If you have time to watch the entire inaugural ceremony of the new Obama Presidential Center, I can’t recommend it enough. Great speeches (Michelle’s especially), music acts, U2, Bruce Springsteen, and Stevie Wonder were favorites of mine. It’s three hours, so I did skip some of it. But it was uplifting and hopeful. And then for a really good time, search out some of the footage of the Scottish fans taking over Boston and Fenway park. It must have been a wonderful time. Here’s my favorite link for that (it was hard to find again).
Makes me wish for a cameo of our favorite Scotsman.
DegG, how’s George Weasleycat doing? ❤️
I keep seeing these videos of World Cup fans discovering weird American things like Buc-ees, free refills, sweet tea, Waffle House, ranch dressing, Taco Bell, etc.
I fear half of them will be returning home with pre-diabetes.
I have never been to Buc-ees or Waffle House, I’ve been to Taco Bell once in my life, and I don’t like ranch dressing. I’ve probably never had proper Southern sweet tea, either, but I’m at a point now where more than one sugar in my tea is too much, so I probably wouldn’t like that, either (though I would have loved it when I was a kid).
Such beautiful rugs! I too want to snorgle those fluffy bellehs, even if I lose some skin.
George Weasleycat is hanging on and in fact seems quite content with his life. I have no idea how long this situation will last, but I’m determined to enjoy it all.
In case I haven’t explained: George has lost a lot of weight, and we’ve ruled out thyroid issues, diabetes, and all other causes that bloodwork could reveal. Vet thinks it’s most likely some sort of cancer, which is also nullifying all the nutrients from his multiple daily feedings. We need to keep his weight up. I’ve also got gabapentin to help with any arthritis pain, and subcutaneous fluids to keep him hydrated. He eats at least 4 single-serve tubs per day–in fact, he’s grazing right now. He’s affectionate, demanding about the food, and loves play time right before bed. So this might be weeks. My boss agreed to reducing my in-office time, to one day a week, so I can keep a close eye.
That’s about it for me. Hugs to you all.
Late checking in. Not dealing well with this heat, and it’s going to get worse next week before it gets better.
Would love to snorgle those two floofs in front of their fire, but I’m going to have to do it from afar. But they did give me an idea for large floor pillows.
Going to spend the day pampering myself. I think I deserve it.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
Our orange overlords have made The Cute again! They were going crazy and zooming around this morning, now both have sacked out.
It’s our 33rd anniversary today, so husband and I will go out for dinner – after I spend the afternoon at my friend’s daughter’s dance recital. I know the instructors (amazing dancers, who will also perform), and it’s a warm feeling watching these kids get so excited about music, expression and physical activity in the real world!
Sending furry hugs to everyone who could use them!
Congrats on the anniversary, and on making The Cute!
