Weekend Open Thread

It’s Caturday, and reader Georgiana Y. treats us to a return visit from Minnie and Storm.

We lower the temperature at night so Minnie’s favourite place in the morning is under the cat tree next to the warm air vent.

And I have a fur coat!

Storm is waiting for a belly rub and she will stay like that as long as it takes.

Anytime… hint, hint.

For today’s Caturday open thread, reader Tara O. is back with a follow-up on the mysterious Universal Cat Distribution System:

Since my email from December 8th, explaining my first delivery from the UCS, the grey kitty has returned. I’ve been calling him Smokey, and this past weekend he has finally decided he can trust me. This is the best photo I could take of him because he moves so much. In addition to the fabulous toe beans, please note the lovely ear tufties.

I Am Eagle, Hear Me Screech

Cutetropolis reader Susan H. took some absolutely beautiful photos of an eagle with a lot of opinions about things. Here are the deets:

I visited Northwest Trek wildlife park in Eatonville, WA. The eagles had a lot to say!

Bald eagle perches on branch with mouth open
GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!

There are four eagles in the enclosure, and for several years they’ve separated themselves.

Same bald eagle, still with mouth open
FROM MY COLD DEAD TALONS!

Recently, the ones in the bigger area have started hanging out in the smaller section. Much yelling and screaming has ensued.

Eagle looks at you sheepishly with head tilted to one side.
(Honestly, I’m not particularly oppressed…)
Eagle looks down
(I just really enjoy yelling.)

Time for a Caturday cuddle puddle as reader Squiddy shares a serene moment she captured last Christmas:

This is Christmas morning and my sweet little nuggets are welcoming in the holiday slowly. They had a busy morning of … also just taking a nap. They are my best Christmas present every year.

Three cats sleep curled up together
All that inactivity wears us out!
